Water Spots Won't Come Off?

I went to Auto Zone yesterday and got the Mr. Clean Auto Wash kit. I haven't washed my truck in awhile and had bugs and shit all over it. My truck is white and the Mr. Clean kit got the bugs off real easy and when it dried it look really good except the hood and front fenders! It looks like there are water spots all over it and I tried to use a cleaner wax to get them out but could not! It looks better but they are still there. Does anyone know what I can do to get them out?

I've washed and rewashed and rewashed. The damn spots won't come off. Its not something thats really noticable unless you really look at it.

You can really see them when you try to wax the truck and even after using a cleaner wax the spots are still there!

If I can't find anything to get them off myself I guess I'll have to go to the dealer since the paint is warrantied and if they can't get them off they will repaint.

Try a clay bar. Mother's has a good kit that's around $15 or so.

Hard water or acid rain. If its acid rain damage there isn't much you can do. Lick your finger and go over the waterspots and see if they feel rough or run your fingernail back and forth over a spot REALLY lightly and see if the outside of the waterspot catches your fingernail. If it does then its prob acid rain damage.

Re: Water Spots Won't Come Off?

if none of the above works... just use an electric polisher on it and id say that would work

Re: Water Spots Won't Come Off?

Wow this exact same thing has happened to me I think. I've been using the Mr. Clean car wash for a while now and if you look REALLY close there are all kinds of water spots on my truck. I haven't really tried scrubbing them really hard to get them off so I dunno. You can only see them when you are like inches away from the paint.

I think I'm done using the Mr. Clean anyways so hopefully they will go away. Its just weird.

Re: Water Spots Won't Come Off?

You could try some "Quik Detailer" and a decent detailer's cloth, but clay bar is the best. Actually, it wouldn't hurt any of us to spend a day clay barring our whole vehicle. It's exhausting, but damn it looks good when it's done. I say this because I've just initiated this tedious endevour on my own truck. 99 black. Stepside. Sucks balls.

It takes you a whole day to clay bar? I can clay bar my whole truck in under an hour and mine is black too.

Re: Water Spots Won't Come Off?

Its not acid rain....I'm going to have to try the clay bar. I work at the Jacksonville Anheusure Busch Plant (Budweiser) and my truck was getting hit with the sprinklers and they use the beer water for irrigation....lol

How long does it take you? How hard is it. Spray the lubrication, clay it, wipe off excess. Of course, I clean cars part time and will soon be opening my own detailing shop, so I have had plenty of practice.

Re: Water Spots Won't Come Off?

I know it sounds dumb but this works for me. Between (weekly,bi-monthly?) waxings run it through the car wash. Hit it with their spray on wax, then give it a good soaking with the spot-free rinse, most washes have it. If possible let it dry in the shade, or if you have to go out run it fast for about 5-10 minutes and you should end up with a spot free finish. It works on my T-ruck, and for everybody who owns a black S-10 you know what a pain in the ass it is to keep clean. Also, that color match car wax works pretty good, but takes a lot of buffing to blend.
