washing

i know that most car freaks wash car by hand and not those lousy car washes at chevron or where ever else but what exactly does the car wash do to your vinyles/paint?

and what solution should i use to my rims. seems like they never stay siney always cloudy and collecting black, i heard windex works but what should i use to get that greesy black off the rims?

Re: washing

kit car wash soap with carnuba wax in it in it wich really helps the shine and protect
use a polish then a good wax ,polish puts oils back in the paint depth) and wax seals and shines try maguires use gold class wax if your to lazy to polish as recommended

Re: washing

I wash my truck in the carwash only because i dont have a hose and shit at my place. i dont touch my wheels with the brush tho, i just hose them off, then use some stoner invisible glass on them afterwards.

Re: washing

The only way to stop the brake dust is to get brake dust sheilds. They go right behind your wheel and they are black so they look ok. That is the only way to eliminate brake dust unless you buy a solid wheel.

Re: washing

you still need a hose to even run a pressure washer. otherwise it would just be gas powered air compressor

Re: washing

I use the Mr. Clean Auto Dry car washer, it works good, but takes a while, it doesn't give alot of water volume when cleaning off with the filtered water, but once it's done it looks amazing, no hand drying and no spots.
For my ZQ8 Wheels I use Armorall, takes the brake dust off easy and makes them shine.

Re: washing

what ive done, not to reduce brake dust but to make it easier to remove, was put a coat of wax on the wheels. this makes them shine and also repels dust and other road grime.

makes at home washing so easy, and if you have around the house projects that need it then you killed 2 birds with 1 stone and its CHEAP! Best 80 bucks i spent. I use it to wash the cars and then clean the patio/fence/siding etc.

i will never take my truck to a pressure washer at a car wash... most places like that recycle their water and it get's tiny shit in it which will screw up the paint... not that my paint isnt screwed already, but ya know... i usually get the gallon of car wash with the carnuba stuff in it, wash it down, and i usually spend anywhere from 15-30 minutes on each wheel to clean out all the brake dust.... there's a wax that Advanced Auto Parts just started carrying that is for your wheels which is supposed to reduce the amount of brake dust that builds up... i'm thinking about getting it but at 12 bucks for about the size of two dip cans it better damn well work! and then whenever i wax my truck (going to today actually) i use good ole turtle wax.... nothing does the job better...

I have not had any trouble with mine. The only thing I wish was different is that it needs more water flow when the filtered water comes out. Other than that it works great, and I have not hand dried my truck since using it.

Re: washing

I wash mine by hand only the pressure from the garden hose.

I wash my wash mits in the washing machine after every use so they are clean and free of any dirt for the next time ( I usually wash the bikes and cars every saturday morning before 8am)
I use mirco fiber wash mits, different collors, one for the top and another one for the lower 1/4 of the car.
I always wash the top pannels fron to back and side pannels up and down to reduce the visable swirs and much as possible.
I dry it with a leaf blower. It works better and faster then by hand and leaves no straks or risk of paint damage from dirt on a towel or chamois.

For the wheels I use a wheel brush wheel cleaner, then rinse it and wash them again with regular car wash soap to clean off any wheel cleaner that can eat into and damage the finish.
