Re: Wash and Wax Tactics
The first step is to wash the wheels and tires, I use Eagle One A2Z tire/wheel cleaner and scrub it in and rinse. Then the best car washing method is to fill a bucket full of suds of your favorite car wash soap (don't use dish washin soap, it will dry your paint out), drop in a grit guard to keep the dirt from redepositing on the mitt and use a sheepskin mitt to wash. I dry with the Absorber, a synthetic shammie and then MF towels (get 20 for $10 at Costco or Sam's Club). Then clay the car, use lots of detail spray on the bar and on the car that comes with the clay kit (the best deal is the Meguiars for $10). Then put a coat of wax on the car. I like NXT because it hides some of the swirls, enhances darker colors and leaves a nice slick shiny finish.
Check out the detailing forums like meguiarsonline.com or autopia.org. |

Re: Wash and Wax Tactics
well ill start off by saying, that i was watching the car channel, and they said, people biggest mistake when waxing is going in circles, the proper method is going back and forth, circles and scuff or scratch, pluss they leave that swirl pattern... anyway wash with this brand of soap that has an 05 mustang on the picture... then hand wax the whole thing, then i spray on wax the ENTIRE CAR, that way it shines longer, and the spray on was just makes the rain trickle down and not even touch the paint....
WAAAAH BAM! |

Re: Wash and Wax Tactics
You should only see swirls when waxing when you're using the wrong tool to apply the wax and/or there's dirt on the vehicle or the pad.towel you're using. Going in a circular motion gives you more even coverage than going in straight lines too. Also, "swirls" can only be caused by a high speed rotary or someone using an orbital the wrong way. If you see something like looks like a swirl mark, it's most likely marring left behind from too much product or excess you haven't wiped off yet.
If going in circles caused swirl marks, every company that makes high speeds and orbitals would be bankrupt ![]() |
