Question Turtle wax for my black S10?

A turtle wax formulated to blend with black finishes along with a chipstick for scratches. Its supposed to be for deep scratches. I dont know about that. I've got some deep ones in my 99 Onyx black S10. Has anyone used this turtle wax before? If not turtle wax, whats the best polish I can use for my black truck? Ive heard that Mother's and Meguiars' are good ones. I may invest in a clay bar as well.

If you are talking about "Ice" form Turtle Wax, yeah I've used it and wasn't impressed. First it cost $15.00 and 2nd I wasn't happy with the quality.

I swear by Meguiar's Gold Class.

I loved Meguiars gold class till I started using their Tech Wax on my black 03 Jetta.I wipe it down with a terry cloth then finish with a micro fiber cloth and I get asked all the time if the car is new I also use Meguiars scratchX it works great on light scratches I left the bra on the car too long last winter and it beat the crap outa the paint scratchX got rid of 99% of it

Re: Turtle wax for my black S10?

I used the black turtle wax and I was unempressed. Didn't last long and when I took it off, I stained my microfiber cloth. I would stick to a standard polish and wax. Just my 2 cents.

Not telling you what you have to buy, but this is what i use and it works damn nice for me.

-Wash the vehicle with dish soap to remove all previous wax applied.
-For buffing and be careful ive seen people mess up with this, apply 3M Perfect-It 2 by hand in small sections and buff with a machine in each section. This stuff works great
-After that apply Meguiars scratch x the same way, small sections by hand then machine buff the section, this helps if there was any deeper scratches that didnt come out after buffing
-Any type of liquid wax is good next, ive used Gold Class, Tech wax, and this time i used Cleaner Wax. Dont go in circles, wipe in straight lines and wipe off with a microfiber towel. This you can do the whole truck then come back and wipe off.

I usually do as many times as needed for each step. For some reason i never had good luck with a paste wax on a black truck.

Re: Turtle wax for my black S10?

Consumer Report did a test on car waxes in the June '06 issue and ranked Black Magic liquid wax as the best, whereas Meguiar's Gold Class was ranked in the middle. Just passing the results along, I'll go into more detail when I find the issue.
