i think since you just touched it a little you can buff it out. might be wrong though. thats how you clean headlights. wet sand and buff it out.

Try using wax and a buffer before you wetsand it, it may take a while but I don't think you can wetsand glass.

Re: touched sander to window.. how to smooth

Cover your windows when sanding! lol, you might be out of luck man, glass is very hard and wetsanding glass probably won't do much. They make polishing kits made especially for buffing glass but there made for light scratches.

Take it to a glass shop and have them polish it out if you can't. Sport Truck had an article on how to polish glass a few months ago.

Yea, you can use toothpaste as a cheap polish. Works really well for clearing up foggy headlights.

Re: touched sander to window.. how to smooth

we had a 70 gto at work that the shop who restored it before us d.a'd the hell outta the back window.. we used 3 different kits and then the kit eastwood sells, and finally ended using 1,2, and 3000 grit sandpaper and 3m plastic polish on the hard buffer that came with the eastwood kit.. in the end it looked better and got rid of the tiny scratchs but the big ones were still present.. even if we had spent 3 weeks sanding and buffing the thing and got the scratches out you'd still have a divit in the glass where the scratch was... so unless its very shallow your screwed... either that or theres a miracle cure we could'nt find..

Re: touched sander to window.. how to smooth

Put Duct tape on the edges of the glass near where you are sanding.

Re: touched sander to window.. how to smooth

Lets glaze over why I used a scrub to get the melted on dealer decal, but it happened and I tried everything to get the window clear again there, even wet sanding, and toothpaste and the most powerful window cleaner I could find, waxed it polished, nuthin phased it.
