Question Tips on using a ClayBar

Just looking for some info on using a claybar. I have never used one before and after the crappy winter we are having here I really wanna use one in the spring.

Do you use it on the plastic and all? Anything to look out for while doing it?
Risk of damage to the paint?

Thanks

I think it just works on the paint...I wasn't all that impressed with it but my paint is still really nice...I guess the trick is just keep on the wet spray and rub away with the clay bar

The claybar only works on paint and glass. There is no real trick to it, just hand wash your truck and use it while the paint is still soapy, then rinse. You don't need to buy all that extra crap that they suggest you buy with it. Just soap and water.

I used it with the spray bottle it came with and it worked AWESOME! Night and day difference. My truck had Green overspray on it from a place the I used to work at. It took it off of the glass, the paint, and the plastic pieces. You can hear it working, the swirl sound will stop as it lifts the crap off of your truck. My truck went from a sand paper finish, back to a nice smooth finish. I would recommend it for sure.

detailing clay the proper way

wash the enite vehicle and make sure paint surface is cool to the touch before starting. use a spray bottle with a light mist of clay lubricant (i reccomended meguairs quick wax works awesome!) or soap suds(little more mess but cheaper lol). Do a section of abouut 3 foot by 3 foot and fold ur clay into a pancake shape for easy application. rub it lightly over the surface and increase in pressure as needed. wipe surface with soft towel to remove lubricant. if surface is smooth ur ready. no u wont mess ur paint at all. the best way to do this is a get a da buffer, go to griotis.com and pick up ther pad and clay in the pad and do ur whole car in a 1/4 of the time
