tiny bumps on back window??

Recently, I noticed there are about 20 little bumps on my back window (all spread out). They are very tiny, about the size of the tip of a sharpened pencil (pretty tiny). I can scratch at them to get down to being level with the window it seems, but they are still there. It seems like they are embedded in the window! Its pretty weird and haven't seen anything like it. Anyone else know what the heck I'm talking about? My truck is bagged with no tonneau/topper and maybe its debris from dragging or this past winter, I don't know.

Any help would be appreciated

Yep. It's from grinding/welding without covering up the back window. Check on your roof and your hood. You might find tiny rust particles imbedded in the paint too.

That sucks. Oh well, its only a window (hopefully no where else). Any way to get that crap off the window? Thanks for helping me out

Theres really nothing to "get out." The hot sparks from the grinder/welder have splattered on the window and have actually melted the window in those places. You said in your first post that you were able to remove particles from the window. That was the actual metal shavings. What you are feeling now are the pits in the window.

Re: tiny bumps on back window??

#00000 steel wool. It's harder to find but yes, it does exist. I'd also start by dipping the steel wool in soapy water to minimize the abrasion. If it is melted glass though it'll be hard to fix that way because you're just wearing down the high spots, not removing the pits. Let us know how it turns out though.

Re: tiny bumps on back window??

you dont have wheel tubs do you? cause its probably from the sand flinging up from the tires and it pits the rear window.. Your truck was the one done by Nic at crazytalkcustoms correct?

Yeah. Thats where I got it bagged. Sand? I don't think sand would do that. If it was sand, my back window would be covered in these little pits (there are only about 20-30 maybe). Rompn knows what I am talking about and knows it was from sparks. I'm guessing its from draggin Ti and sparks actually came back and hit the back of my window somehow.

Re: tiny bumps on back window??

yea, its from stuff getting caught in your tires, either little sand/dragging, and flinging it up into your rear window, get some wheel tubs in the rear and you should be fine.

I think its from sparks I think if a sand pebble hit it hard enough, it would make a small crack in the back window. These things are very tiny and have some sort of rust built up in them. Really weird. But, its alright. Not a big deal since my bed is all scratched up from the previous owner.
