surface rust question

i just bought my second X about a month ago. I bought it from someone who was always highway driiving over a road that has been getting reapaired for the last few years. When i received the truck there was old all over it. He used to store the truck over winter and it seems like the ols left little rust marks on the paint. I know its not the body rusting because its on my side skirts also. Anyone ever have this problem and know of a way to remove these tiny marks. Thanks

Re: surface rust question

It's possibly rail dust that was on the truck since it was new. One of my clients has an 04 F350 that came with this stuff all over it from the stealer, they did an acid bath to get rid of it but that wasn't a smart move IMHO, and they didn't even get it all off. I got the rest of it off with lacquer thinner, it takes this stuff really easy. You can try claying it but it takes longer and the lacquer does a better job IMO. I use it for road tar, tree sap, etc on a daily basis and have never had a problem

Nope, anything stronger will. It evaporates really quickly and it's pretty mild for a solvent. I even use it on deep carpet stains that don't come out all the way, use it to spot clean seats, etc. There's other ways to get the same results but this way works quickly and does a good job.
Just use a microfiber or a soft terry cloth/towel, get a section of the towel wet and start wiping. You'll ned to aply a new coat of wax but that's it
