what can i do now to make it look more uniform?

the wax is turtle platinum series, ultra gloss liquid wax, normally i dont use the liquid stuff. What do you guys suggest for a new wax to use in florida for my truck w/ no garage.

Re: Son of a female dog....

I suggest getting a cleaner wax and taking that old stuff off. Fisrt wash the truck with Dawn dishwashing soap, that will ake that old wax off and then use a cleaner wax or polish after that. Then use a good carnuba wax to give it a deep shine with more protection.

Washing with Dawn is a good place to start.

Meguiras makes a 3 step solution. Each bottle is about $14 (cdn), but its well worth it.

The first bottle cleans, 2nd is a polish, and the third is the wax. It takes quite a bit of time, as you are going over the truck 6 times... but it is worth it.

I get mine at Canadian Tire.... Seeing as how your not in Canada, you could try something like WalMart. The Walmart here carries 2 out of the 3 steps

Yah i have this stuff works wonders, your hella tired by the time u wash/dry then do 3 layers of waxing but it works wonders, But also make sure u only use the dishsoap this time... it will peal your wax off which is what u want, but dont use it all the time! or you could do some serious damage to your paint/clear

Good call. If you've got some fine scratches/swirls.. you might as well invest in Meguiars Scratch X. I usually use this 2nd. It works really well with the 3 step Deep Crystal system.

It takes a good afternoon (in the shade) to get it done properly.

Re: Son of a female dog....

I plan on washing/detailing my truck pretty good here next week for an upcoming show. Im going to be using a little orbital 10'' buffer from walmart. Just strip with dawn, then start the 3 stage process? And did you just add in some Scratch X with the deep crystal polish and buff it on? How will I know also that I have buffed one area enough?

Re: Son of a female dog....

To get that haze out you have...take a microfiber cloth and squirt bottle with water
lightly mist the areas and wipe. That should all go away. I have had that happy before myself. Even a quick detailer spray would remove it also.

the little buffers work really good. I find it is easiest to buff off the product by hand with a micro fiber towel. (or 9 towels.... )

This is what I would do:

1. Wash with Dawn
2. Dry vehicle
3. Apply and remove stage 1 cleaner
4. Apply and remove Scratch X
5. Apply and remove stage 2 polish
6. Apply and remove stage 3 wax
7. Buff entire vehicle lightly by hand with a microfiber.

It's a lot of work, but its really worth it.

Sounds good, but add in a clay bar, and a rewash with car wash solution, and then the 3 step and its a shiny mother ****er!

Re: Son of a female dog....

if you go to miguiras website there is a detailing video by "barry miguira" it's about 30min long but it's pretty interesting.

I use a terry cloth towel on the mini buffer, or by hand, to apply the wax, and microfiber to remove it and buff the vehicle

Teflon sucks it does nothing on cars in order for teflon to work it has to bond with the surface and in ordrer to bond with the surface it has to be heated to about 1200 degrees and your truck/paint couldn't handle that. Don't be fooled and waste your money!!!
