so pissed right now

hey whats up guys i just got my billet specialties rims brand new like a week ago and they have these stupid swirls on them (like microscratchs or something) anyway they've been annoying the crap out of me. i have allready polished them four times spending a few hours each time and they still don't come out . I don't know what i doing wrong i got mother billet polish and some diaper cloths. i am using the same technique that a guy named s10cyncrvr where you use a latex glove and polish til the polish turns liquidy black and then wiping it off with those diaper towels. so i need to know what i doing wrong i think it may be the diaper towels maybe i should get a microfiber towel. i don't know all i want it some flawless billets like s10cyncrvr.

Re: so pissed right now

More than likely it is the diapers.
When you are looking for a mirror shine, you want to use better quality products.
The Mothers Polish is great, but you really do need to replace the diapers, but not with Wal Mart microfiber towels as the quality is questionable. (I have tested many and use them for under the hood and tires, but that is all)

For Billet, because you want a mirror shine, you want to use the best towels available

Post pics when finished

Re: so pissed right now

Call Zaino and ask his opinion.
Quality MF or real 100%cotton towels
You can try DF Towels for what you are working on, they are cotton and MUCH better than the diapers.
If it still scratches then it is the polish you are using...

Re: so pissed right now

If your having problems with micro scratching them the only product for you is a really dense microfiber towel that will pick up the reminents of the polishing without scratching. As for the polish you might want to get rid of your abrasive polish (if that's what your using) and try a chemical cut polish. Adam's Polish #1 and #2 are chemical cut.

Here's a link to the (chemical cut) polish:
Adam's Polish #1 and #2

Here's a link to some 'Mega' plush Microfiber towels:

check it out.

I detail a lot of vehicles and run a side business of it, what I do if the customer wants me to take this kind of time is, buy one of those cotton drill polishers. choose one to suit your application, ie, small spaces to get into get a smaller one... wide 5 spoke a larger one. Buy a really good rim cleaner, *I use mothers* Something with a good acid wash in it. buy about 2 bottles, and just soak your rims in it really good, saturate it. pressure wash it off really well. now if the scratches are as fine as you say, microswirls. you can actually use something like a mothers or mequires swirl remover, or just a hair heavyier. if you apply a lil to your fingers and rub it, you can feel a super fine grain in it? Now apply it directly to the pad, a cordless drill is nicer to use if this is your first time, less rpm. And and buff away until it looks almost like you waxed the car itself, a nice even coating with a dryed haze. A good cloth to use, is get some velvet of even flannel works good, and wipe off turning very frequently to a clean spot. Remember all that grain is still in the wax, if you do a lot of rubbing and it picks up a lot of material you'll start to scratch again. if it worked out but you want a finer finish... keep going up in grain to about 3000 if you really want. When its all done and you want to protect, you can use a sealer glaze, meguires is really good. and keep applying regulary every month or so and it will give a nice protective coat.
