Ok so i use to have a 03 Xtreme but i went to college and couldnt get around without 4 wd and had to trade it in on a new 06 Jeep wrangler, its not bad not as fun as my dime but i needed the traction and clearence, my question is i just washed my jeep at the self wash with a power washer and used the rim cleaner well i got some overspay on the rear cargo area because i was washing my spare tire are the chemicals in the cleaner for the rims harsh enough to do any damage to the paint? I didnt relize i got over spary untill like 2 min and then i just hosed it off but since this is an 06 and i would like to keep it in good shape should i be highly concered about getting the over spray on cargo area and paint or is it dluted enough to not do any damage to the paint or hardtop, i dont exactly know what kind of cleaer it was just a generic kind. Please advise, and yes i know its not a dime but i did own one and i miss it still to this day.

Re: Self Wash rim clearner harmful to paint?
Rised it off when i noticed it got on like 1 or 2 min after it happened used the pre soak hot water with the pressure hose and rised it off completly then soaped it up rised that off and was done so i must have rised the area off like 4 times just using the different sprays.

You mean the green tire cleaner? If so you are fine man. I know a lot about those carwashes my parents own some. As long as it doesnt sit on your paint for a really long time (like dry up there) you don't have anything to worry about. I have seen idoits spray their whole car with it and just let it sit. I think the worse thing it'll do is strip your wax. So don't worry man.

![]() Its fine, I washed the underhood area and front end and lower side panels and lower tailgate with it all the time in my camino, if it dries on there just rinse it off. Only wheel cleaner i know of that will fuggle the paint is wheel acid. |
