Scratched Paint
I was debadging the truck and some of the adhesive came off. Trying to take it off i ended up scratching the paint and now it looks very dull. How should i fix this? Buffing and waxing it with a buffer? And if so whats good wax and polish? Here are some pictures of the truck.

Re: Scratched Paint
I would just find a detailer in your area and have him fix that portion of the truck. Looks like its going to need some pretty good polishing to get those marks out.

Re: Scratched Paint
yeah dude, that sucker needs to be taken care, if ur brave, and u have a rotary buffer, get some light compound cause it dosen't look like u need something heavy duty, cut it, then hit it with a polish, and use wool pads too, then wash and wax it, and if its still bad, take it to a shop that will fix something like that

Re: Scratched Paint
yeah i don't think it was from taking off the actual emblem but taking off the adhesive that was leftover after i had taken them off. So polishing and waxing should help it?

Re: Scratched Paint
For future reference, Goo Gone will take the adhesive right off without any horrible side effects.
If the scratches are too deep, dont bother trying and have it professionaly done. If you think you can take care of it this is what I'd do. -If you have access to 3M Perfect-It 3000 rubbing compound use this, if your out of luck on these products try Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound. -Use a rotary buffer if you have one, if not...it is going to take a lot of elbow grease. -After the compound is applied, come go back over it with a nice polish then a wax to finish it off. I can almost promise you that it wont come out like new but those steps will make it a lot less noticable. |
