soap and water works for me.. my girlfriends house has shitty trees that get it all over my truck.. and soap and water always takes it right off..

Just fill your soap bucket halfway with hot water and then the rest with hose water, the hot water will soften the tree sap up and it will come right off with no more effort than just normal washing. I have done this many times and it works really good even on my dull silver one stage paint job.
