REVIEW: Poorboys Wheel Sealant

I must say, after reading all this good stuff about their wheel sealant I decided to give it a try.

On my daily driven s10, I took the stock LS wheels off and cleaned them inside and out with wheel acid and then applied 2 coats of the sealant. It's very easy to apply, smells good too!

It's been raining, and crappy out so I have not washed the truck in a week, there was brake dust build up but not nearly as much as usual. Hosed them off, and used normal car wash soap to wash them. To my suprise the brake dust basically just wiped away, no wheel cleaner neccessary. It even beads up very nicely. It's kind of pricey, but a little bit goes a long way.

I say its worth the money, it really makes my wheels look shiney, and it makes cleaning much easier.

Have you used them on your billet wheels yet?

Yeah, but I have not gotten them wet or washed them yet to really give a good review on the performance on the billet wheels.

Have you tried Zaino?

It is the longest lasting sealant on the market and is GREAT for protecting wheels

Re: REVIEW: Poorboys Wheel Sealant

Well zaino IS a sealant.

I'm sure wayne means just use normal Z2 on the wheels...
I didn't think of that. Oh Well. The PB Wheel sealant works good.

Thats it
http://www.zainostore.com/

The new ZPRO is even better and when used in combination with Z8, the looks and durability have never been better...

Thebest "solution" is to not let the wheels get in bad shape..., it is easier to keep them maintained than to try to "refinish" them.

Try the new ZPRO if you are using Zaino and also get the Z8 if you want the ultimate Zaino shine.
It reminds me of a carnuba...

It;s really great, the longert lasting protectant and now the new ZPRO look every bit as good as carnuba.
I admit, the older Z did not add shine, but was still the longest lasting sealant...,
However, the new stuff is incredible, easiest to use, easy to apply, really easy to remove- buff off and IMO, is the best for wheels if you want them protected...,

I apply the ZPRO to everything on the exterior..., even works on most trim and I like the fact that it does not stain trim

I got caught in a bad rain storm coming home from a show(with no wipers ahh), and the wheels we're filthy. They cleaned up great, the PB wheel sealant works good.

Re: REVIEW: Poorboys Wheel Sealant

Cool. Couple questions...

1. Does it change the color or clarity of the aluminum? (if you did half the wheel, would you be able to tell there was a sealant on there)

2. How do you apply it? Is the acid wash necessary?

3. How much is it?

Thanks.

Re: REVIEW: Poorboys Wheel Sealant

1. As for clarity/color on uncoated billet aluminum, I didn't notice much of a change, if anything it improved the deepness of the billet. On factory clear coated wheels it improved the finish quality, making them look "deeper" and they shine like waxed paint.

2. You apply it like a wax, I used a microfiber applicator pad and you just take a little bit and coat the rim. ( A little bit goes a long way) Let it haze or dry then buff off with a quality microfiber.

3. It was $15.95 for an 8oz. Jar.

I think the next time I do the wheels I'm going to do two of them with Zaino's ZPRO2, and the other two with the PB wheel sealant and compare the results.

Re: REVIEW: Poorboys Wheel Sealant

It's my understanding that the Poorboys Wheel Sealant will outlast the majority of products simply because it was designed for wheels and designed to withstand the torture (heat) a wheel will see opposed to products designed for use on a painted surface. The creator actually tested the wheel sealant against well known quality paint sealants in order to create a superior product for use on wheels.

I'm a big fan of the wheel sealant. Cuts my cleaning/polishing time way down ! I have billet wheels.

I'm curious what results you will find in a side by side comparison.

Remember you can add 2-3 layers of Poorboys Wheel Sealant for more protection. Some people do up to 5 layers, but really I don't have that kind of time!

BTW wheel sealant is $12.95 ... plus 5% off for forum members.

I haven't tried Zaino on my wheels so I'm curious to see what dropped1 thinks.

I have tried Zoop seal and I was extremely dissappointed. I found it lasted a few months but that sure as hell wasn't worth the bux I paid for it. Poorboys is a reasonable price and lasts around a month for me. It might last a little longer but usually about once a month I like to spend time polishing my wheels so it works out great for me. I just like the fact that everytime my billet wheels get some rain on them I don't have to polish them to get them shining again.

Re: REVIEW: Poorboys Wheel Sealant

Damn, only 12.95...I know who I'm ordering it from next time. I bought it right from the owner of PB he was at a car show selling his stuff. Not sure when I will get around to trying the zaino vs. PB as I just spent HOURS polishing them and they are still nice and shiney.
