Removing rust from small crevasse on chrome wheels? wheels?

Found set of wheels for what seems to be a good deal($80 obo for 5, but 1 is bent) but he only sent me a pic of one so far and it has a little rust.

Can this be easily removed?

steel wool won't leave tiny scratches everywhere?

Sorry, never really had wheels worth cleaning

use the 0000 pad, and if you cant find them, then just use a rag or a old shirt and some elbow grease

I was thinking $60, dunno. I just asked him what the absolute lowest is that he would take for them. 3 have tires but I'm assuming they're shit

Hey Ohio,

bag the steel wool. Over time, it will generate rust. Tiny fibers of the steel wool will embed in any imperfection on the chrome surface and actually promote rust. Best bet is to use MR CLEAN MAGIC ERASER. It is the bomb on chrome wheels. Use your favorite concentrated cleaner such as 409 and a bucket of water. Make sure the wheels aren't hot before you apply cleaner. Suggest you rinse and clean as much grime off of wheel as you can then use the cleaner and Magic Eraser. You might not get all the rust off, just a majority. Keep repeating this process whenever you wash your ride. The wheels will eventually start sparkling like new. Also, always finish with your favorite wheel wax or quick detailer. I use Black Magic quick detailer. I found it is one of the best off-the-shelf products out there.

cheers,

Re: Removing rust from small crevasse on chrome wheels? wheels?

Wheels acid, and a tooth brush might work.... just make sure the wheels are nice, and cool, and that you use plenty of water, and only do one wheel at a time. Steel wool works fine, as long as you clean the wheel(with high pressure) after you've used it. I used steel wool on my wheels all the time, and they never rusted, or got any major scratches on them from it...
