Removing road tar
I've had some nasty-looking road tar on the side of my truck since I bought it. What's a good way to get that off?

Re: Removing road tar
they make a cleaning sponge specificly for removing road tar and bugs, works great and wont hurt paint. Don't use Laquer Thinner, way to harsh, could harm clearcoat. Paint thinner is ok. If you have a good coat of wax on the truck goo gone or laquer might be ok. the sponge is only a couple of bux and i have used one, works great.

Re: Removing road tar
Zippo lighter fluid. Others have already been listed such as wd-40. Just be sure to wash it right after you are done.

Re: Removing road tar
anyone have any suggestions for removing dried super glue without harming the paint? I pulled one of them... "what were you thinking?!" deals with a tube of super glue in the garage but way too close to my truck... it's really small and no one notices it really but me. I immediately tried to wipe it up when it happened, but instead fibers from the cloth got permanently glued to the paint... lol that didn't work. I'm getting a new front end anyways it's not big deal.

Re: Removing road tar
1gallon of gas = $1.57 in ga right now, $2.00 tops 1- 8 oz bottle of bug and tar remover = at least $2.50 gas is cheap compared to that stuff |
