Removing road paint
I've got this stringy white stuff that looks and feels like rubberized paint all over the left side of my truck. I think it's the paint used on asphalt (assuming the rubberized compound works better). Any idea on how to get it off?
I'm about ready to use a little acetone on it... |

Re: Removing road paint
No dont.. Go to autozone and buy a CLAY BAR with Lubricant. You simply spray the lub onto the panel and rub the clay bar in a back and forth motion. Then whipe clean with a towl. try this and let me know if it works.

Re: Removing road paint
Ok. This is probably what I will do. This stuff is hellathick though, so I'm concerned that the clay just might not do it. I've been doing some reading, and guys use mineral spirits a lot to get rid of various materials. This should not be _too_ different from acetone, although acetone is an organic solvent, not a petroleum one. Any ideas?

Re: Removing road paint
Well, I went ahead and tested the acetone - it works, but I'm a little concerned that I may be removing more than I want to, so I'm gonna go get some mineral spirits. Report back later.

Re: Removing road paint
Old thread, but a similar question.
Only, my problem is that I just finished painting a week ago using the Hot Rod Flatz midnight blue. I've got white road paint all over my fresh paint and I'm worried about using anything, even a clay bar on my fresh blue sealer. I roughed up the original paint to 320, primed with a filler primer, and then sprayed the hot rod flatz. Do you think mineral spirits or the clay bar will take off the top coat? |

Re: Removing road paint
Oh, and I sanded the filler primer w/ 400, wiped it down, and tack-ragged before spraying the blue.

Re: Removing road paint
Umm, I can't wax it after . . . It's flat blue LOL. Hopefully the adhesive remover won't take off the primer. Thanks.
