Removing Lund window trim
Well, I just cracked one of the window rain covers (i don't know what they're actually called) when I was shoveling the 3 feet of snow off. The truck came with them, and I'd been lazy about taking them off, but now they've got to go. How do I take them off? The 3M glue or tape or whatever it is happens to be sticky as hell. Any sort of solvents out there that will make things easier?

Re: Removing Lund window trim
use a razorblade to seporate the foam tape from the guards, NOT the tape from the truck, and get them off.
then peel the tape off with the help of goo-gone. Last edited by Dave1814 : 01-23-2005 at 07:13 PM. |

Re: Removing Lund window trim
heat the tape up with a hair dryer or heat gun, pull a fishing line under it.

Re: Removing Lund window trim
use laquer thinner and rub it with a rag. the razor technique is good but it is VERY easy to cut into the rubber. so be careful

Re: Removing Lund window trim
ok I HAVE FOUND IT, my old way didnt work and took tooo much time. there is a rubber wheel called an eraser. you hook it to a drill and it'll spin the foam right off. works great, but it makes the foam go every where so make sure your windows are up.
