I used to have to put that stuff on the cars at the old folks home I worked at. I would just keep using clean towels or rags and keep rubbing. The bottle says not to use a whole lot of it so try to use less. I love rain-x. but it can be a pain in the @ss sometimes.

It can be a pain, very often to get the haze completly off I have to wash down the glass again with water and it goes away.

My dad works for a company that sells carwashes and detail products. He told me that the best thing to do is put about 2-3 squirts of Rain-X on the windshield. you need very little. i put it on my truck using only 2-3 squirts and it didnt leave any residue. the only reason they say use alot is because they know it works and if you use more, you will have to buy more, and they end up selling more products.

The trick with this stuff is to buff it until there is no more haze at all. It takes FOREVER, but it's worth it, especially in the summer (and winter if you're car isn't covered).

The trick with rainX is to not use it.... If you have had any rock chips in your windshield repaird it ruins the repair. It also tears up windshield wiper blades. I have learned this over the years from work and from the windshield repair techs I work with. I work at a detail shop and we sell this stuff made by PPG called Aquapel. It is a hell of alot more expensive, but I have applied it once and that was about 8 months ago and it is still just as effective as the day I applied it. So since it is applied alot less often it doesnt really cost more.

Rain-X is a coating over your windshield, but This PPG stuff bonds to your glass and kind of etches it's self into it. (BTW, for those of you that dont know PPG is the company that makes most of the car paint in use today)

a little water from a spray bottle or damp rag will remove the excess haze

I keep a spray bottle with plain water too. I wipe off the haze, spray some water on the glass and wipe again. This will remove the haze. I believe they even say somethine on the RainX bottle about using water to remove the haze.

I use it religiously as I have no windshield wipers. And yeah, it is a bitch to get the haze off, but just get it wet like said above.

There's probably a pretty good reason why it says this.

An onion. I wouldn't use it on my paint though.

Re: Rain X

Rain-X washer fluid is also great. No haze and it keeps a constant spplication of Rain-X on your windows.

Re: Rain X

Yeah i'm interested in trying to find a place to get the PPG Aquapel.. sounds like good stuff. I've used rainx a lot on my previous vehicle and had to use a lot of elbow grease to get all the marks out.. eventually they were all gone but what pissed me off is the rainx comes off if you get a car wash and it only lasts through 3 rainy days..
