Question regarding how to clean underside of s10

Does anyone know any tricks on cleaning and rust proofing the underside of my s10? I see a lot of surface rust and i know i can sand or brush it off but is there a quicker/lee painless way to do this? what about rust proofing. i heard of this stuff that when you brush it on it actually turns the rust into a protective coating. Anyone run into this stuff? Thanks for all of your help.

I've never used it, but lots of guys recommend a product called por-15 for the underside.

The POR stands for Paint Over Rust. I first saw it on Trucks! one weekend. They were using it on the frame of they're budget s10 build they did last year. All you have to do with that stuff is take a wire brush and knock off any large chunks of rust and then paint over it with the POR. It adhears to the surface rust and hardens. Its suppose to not only stop the rust from continueing to eat the metal but also prevent any new rust from starting.

POR15 is very expensive... i advise doing your research before you buy.

go to www.eastwoodco.com they have alot of things you can use or you can get a catalog from them. I've used their rust encapsolator and it seemed to work pretty good, does the same as por, just brush off the loose rust, and then you can either spray or brush it on.
