Mothers polish works well. I've never used a polish that doesn't work. So you're probably pretty safe with whatever.

Re: Polishing xtreme wheels

No point in using mothers polish as the factory wheels are coated, so they cannot be "polished" like a uncoated billet wheel. IF you stripped the clear off the wheels you could then polish them.

But, To protect your wheels just use a good car wax on them...

Re: Polishing xtreme wheels

I would use a good synthetic wax as a carnauba wax will melt once the wheel gets hot from braking. AIO, Glanz or Zaino would be my top choices.

Re: Polishing xtreme wheels

Yeah unfortunately GM had to go and clearcoat the stock rims.... I've seen some where people took the time to chrome the rims and they look way better ! The only problem with polishing the rims is the plastic center cap. Obviously the plastic won't polish up.

As some have already mentioned the only thing you can do is keep your wheels clean and use the same treatment on your wheels as you do on your paint. Sealants, polish, wax.... I'd probably put extra wax on using something that is durable like carnuba. Stay away from the synthetic polymer waxes like Meguiar's NXT, and Eagle One because it doesn't stand up as well and you probably don't want to be shining your wheels ALL the time... or maybe you do....

I agree 100%
Carnuba has a low melting point compared to synthetics.
AIO is a good cleaner and "base" for Glanz or Zaino for wheels.

hahha, damn that's a damn good tip.. I was out cleaning my xtreme rims, cause they were dirty. And I was gonna wax it with nxt (its what I had on hand,) and i saw this.. What waxes would you recomend to use (that I could buy from advance auto parts, autozone.. etc....

Also, anyone know where the spokes meet the outer part of the rim.. I can't get that part clean, theres always dirt in there. No matter how hard i scrub, what I use, I just can't get it as clean as I'd like it too.. Got any tips?

well unless you have a curved piece milled out there isnt much you can do to get an aluminum center cap. I looks alot better than the stock piece trust me, IMO
