Paying to have wheels polished?

I'm looking to have my billet wheels professionally cleaned and polished. Has anyone ever had this done? If so, were they able to get some of the small pits and deeper scratches out? And what is a good price for them to ask which isn't too high. I was quoted 50 a wheel at the cheapest place, where all the others were 125 - 225 a wheel.

They'l get dirty again just like every rim gets dirty. If you polish them out, the shine will last for a decnt amount of time, just clean off the dirt.

I've had bent rims repaired. They repolish them in the proccess. Small pits and scratches will get removed.

As for prices, I know www.performanceplustire.com out here in Long Beach charges $170 to fully do a set of four. If your bring them in without tires, it's $30 a rim. I was just there last Saturday.

I've heard other other places charging $100+ a rim too. Fock them.

damn 170 for a set, that's not bad at all. Do you remember around what they charge to repair a bent one? The place wanted 125 to straighten and repolish it. My wheels are nice right now, it's just the small things that bug me about them, if I could get them worked out, I'd be happy. (Dirt where the hoop meets the spokes) I'd deff. run a sealer on them now that I know more about keeping them clean.

Re: Paying to have wheels polished?

I've used the powerball. To me, it soils too quickly and I feel the money could be better spent using polishing bits.

Re: Paying to have wheels polished?

Whats the power ball you guys are talking about? Is that a bit you can attach to a drill? I was going to have my rims sent back to Intro. They were charging $85-100/wheel but I'd have to pay for shipping both ways. Another product that seemed to delay when I had to repolish my wheels was the Zoops selaer. Took almost a year of normal driving before the wheels started to dull. I'm just about to get down and dirty and repolish the wheels and rea pply another coat of the zoops. Its supposed to last for 3 years. My billet bowtie is nice and shiny still. Must not do good with all the heat cycles from the brakes.

...Every wednesday and saturday they have a drawing of 5 numbers and a 'bonus' number. If you match all five numbers you get $100,000 if you get all the numbers right, you get the jackpot which is usually over 25 million. With that kind of money, you can hire people to polish your wheels. I think that's what we are talking about ...

Re: Paying to have wheels polished?

Haha anyway, I polished my wheels by hand, so I will probably pay in the future to have them repolished just because it was so time consuming and difficult. I can do a wheel in like 6hrs now, from stripping the clear coat, sanding the machined grooves, and polishing it up. But I can sand them down anytime if there is a scratch and buff it out, but they are very difficuly to care for, alot of buffing, still worth it
