Paint Scratches?

Whats the best product to remove light to medium scratches? These scratches arent deep enough for a fingernail to go into but they show. The truck is black also.

dark colors show scratches and buff marks the worst, to fix you should buff if you arent sure take it to a body shop they can do it in a hour and probly wont charge much in my shop i would charge about 40 or 50 bucks if you know how to buff use 3m perfect it II rubbing compound first clean with alchohol then wetsand with a block and 2000 grit or 3000 then wipe off then buff with the compound hit the area 2 or three times using medium pressure with the buffer at about 1400 rpm , then use a 3m polish or foam pad glaze using a foam pad, and buff at about 1000rpm using light pressure. then take some butter wax and hand wax to get rid of everything that might possibly show up. if you have not been trained on how to buff a car do not attempt it!!!! there is a lot more on buffing then just stickin a pad on a grinder and gettin after it( a buffer is not the same thing as a grinder even though they look the same) if you have any questions email me steventucker1@cox.net i am a painter so i do know what i am talking about

Re: Paint Scratches?

just grab some meguirs dual action. its half compound half polish. Anyone could use it. Just use some nice soft plushy not thin feeling old t shirts or towels and apply and take off . You may have to use a lil elbow grease but it is cheaper than taking it to a shop and easier than buffing and less chance of burning through your clear. This product can be purchased at any paint jobber. bout maybe 20 bucks a bottle or so. I also have a lil trick i use.... i take a meguirs wax applicator and get it soaking wet and wring some of the water out yet keeping it damp... apply the dual action... apply it in circular motions into the paint. let sit for 30 secs to a min and then take off. dont like the results do it again. may take about 3 hours to do whole truck but well worth it. do one panel at a time and maybe a 2 foot by 2 foot section at a time.
