Re: Overspray

tape it off before you spray it and you'll never have to worry about it., unless somebody else did it before you

Re: Overspray

what are you talking about?

and besides, after playing detail bitch in a bodyshop for almost a year before i got to do bodywork, overspray tends to be an issue no matter how well something was masked. there is always shit floating in the air waiting to land on your car.

Re: Overspray

umm not if you use the right material and do a good job, and you have a good gun, and you have an environment where the air is circulated, then there wont be a bunch of overspray.

no but at least in my experience there is always a little (especially when your crew works flat rate).

but seriously, why tell him "tape it off before you spray it and you'll never have to worry about it." isnt that sort of a no shit statement anyway? plus, the overspray is alreay there and hes looking to get rid of it. its not like he wants to get overspray on his lights and is asking how.

Re: Overspray

Painted, smooth, or rough plastic? If it's just smooth or textured plastic, use a degreaser and a mild brush, for painted plastic use a clay bar

Re: Overspray

ouch steel wool. harsh. mabye on glass, but plastic? try a soft scotch brite pad instead, less likely to scratch the headlights. if you are using paint thinner you could use a damn paper towel with it and get most of it off.
