New to Detailing and waxing

I am new to really detailing and waxing and have just a few questions regarding it.

1. I have dark lines on my truck kind of like someone took a peice of rubber and rubed it on the paint, are there any easy ways to remove these when washing and waxing?

2. When waxing would you recommend using a circle like hand motion when applying and removing or would it be better at going up and down and side to side?

3. How do you like the CA Duster do you think it does a Decent job of removing light dust and dirt?

Thank you very much any input you could pass on would be great as i want to keep my Xtreme in prefect condition.

Thumbs up Re: New to Detailing and waxing

ill try to help. i worked in a body shop for 2 years in the wet sanding and buffing area. or a paint finishing tech. but any way

1. your black marks try rubbing with your finger first then wax and if that dont work get some turtle wax polishing compound and try that. if that dont work (which it should) get it professionaly detailed. if you have never used a buffer before i highly do not recomend you use one on your ride. if you want to start find some old beater and start there.

2. waxing. it all depends on the color of your truck.. for your lighter colors EX white, silver, pewter. you can use the circles. but for your darker colors EX black, indego blue, and your darker reds. use the up and down BUT do not go up and down then side to side use the same either go up and down or side to side. I DO HIGHLY RECOMEND THAT YOU USE A CLAY BAR WHILE WASHING IF YOU PLAN ON WAXING. IF YOU DONT YOU HAVE THE CHANCE OF SCRATCHING IT WITH WHAT THE WASHING DOESNT REMOVE.

3. i use the cali duster religiously that thing works great. for dust only tho.

4. if you in a hurry i personaly like the EAGLE 1 wax as you dry spray. it gives you the shine of waxing but it lacks the full protection of hand waxing.

5. i also like the Meguires Quick detailer for your darker colors. workers wonders for the so called spider webs. works for a couple days then wash and redo.

6. for the best thing take it to a profesional for a complete detail if your not familiar with buffing. then use the steps above to keep the shine.

hope what i have here helps you.

Re: New to Detailing and waxing

i agree with everthing Zar2 said. i've been detailing for about 4 years now. clay works wonders on your finish espicially if you live where it snows and they throw salt on the roads. good waxing advice to couldn't have said it better myself
