Need help with Carpet!

I just noticed that when my system was put in that they didnt silicon the power cable were they opened a hole in the fire wall. so with all the rain we have been getting lately my carpet padding i just noticed is soaked and starting to get some mold. Any suggestions. i was planning on pulling out the carpet this week and maybe steam cleaning it. Any help would be very helpful! thanks

well fist get that carpet out of there..mold spores are BAD.....second before the jute and carpet dry.... geta bucket of HOT water and some simple green...take brush, dip it in the bucket of hot simple green water and scrub the moldy and stained areas of the carpet...do this to the whole carpet wherever there is mold/dirty spots or stains. then you can either use a shampooer and go over the whole thing to suck extra water out or rinse the carpet off with clean water and hang to dry in a warm dry locatinon...thats what has worked for me in the past.

Tony

EDIT: then use some seam sealer to seal up your hole in the firewall.

Mold is a bad think..., make SURE you get rid of all of it...,
I would remove the carpet for cleaning and also clean the floor really good to

Re: Need help with Carpet!

steam cleaners are supposed to work really well for getting rid of mold in carpet. I'm also suspecting that now you have stopped the source of moisture that alone might kill off the mold too. Depending on the mold I'm guessing.
