Need Help

What are some cheap things i can do to improve the look of my 86 blazer, it has no rust, the paint is aight, and i am goin to get it painted in time, but until then, what are some cheap things i can do to make it look nicer, i.e. removing stuff, putting stuff on, and also i want to take the back plate off the tailgate, how do i do it w/out making a mark, and what do i use to get the adhesive off w/out taking the paint off, thanks
