My factory paint sucks!

I got a 2002 BLACK Xtreme and I swear I find a new scratch on the **cking thing every day. IT's starting to get really bad. I now have mandatory rules for my friends such as no riding bikes within 15 feet of my truck and absolutely no one is allowed to jump in or out of the bed of the truck over the bed rails. I've even resulted in not allowing anyone to put bikes in or out of my truck. Therefore I am the one that has to put all four bikes in. If anyone sets a can of beer or pop on the rails or on the roof or hood I go absolutely nuts. I can't help it because no matter what if someone just touches it theres a freaking scratch. My friends are all getting ticked and I don't want to be like this but I just get so depressed over big ass scratches in my truck. Does anyone else have this problem? I guess it's an obsessive compulsive thing but if anyone has any tips for me as to what I can do to fill in these scratches would be appreciated. They aren't deep but they are really long and the width of a couple hairs. I've tried 3M Imperial hand glaze and it works okay till it rains. I'm afraid buffing is going to take away from the shine too. I wish they would make cars like they used to and bake the paint on so it would be harder. I was told that the type of metal they use now can't take the heat like the older cars could.

I hear ya man. I hate ANYONE touching my truck. It's even worst because its black. I really don't know what to tell you other than keeping your paint nice is a hard thing.

Try the 3M fine cut rubbing compound and start using Zaino...it's awesome stuff. They've got all the information on what to buy and how to use it. You'll love it, especially if you've got black paint.

my paint stayed NIIIIICE and shiny...on a 95...i buff it out every month though with polish/wax. Blacks a bitch to keep clean...even in the garage it gets dusty...I love it though.....same color as my interior. Plus i own a detailing business, so it's easier for me.

Same here with the scratches, etc., and my luck is so bad that some of my dumba$$ buddies were wrestling around by my truck and put a dent in the side of the bed almost 20" wide. I almost killed them. I popped out the big part but the part on the curve to the bed rail is still there and it's still deformed where the bottom of it was right above the molding. @$^@$%!#$^!

I dont have black, I have red, but I am still extremely anal about my truck. I am in HH Gregg picking up some new stuff & left my credit voucher in the truck. I walk out to see some a$$hole, who put a big box on the rail of my truck. He was leaning on my truck & shooting the crap with a sales person. I am freaked. I said "get your box off my truck & suggest you do it quickly". He, his wife & the salespersons jaw hit the ground like I was the dick.......but he moved that box faaaast. Dont people have common sense. It blew my mind. I would never in a million years put something on someone else's vehicle. He was acting like he owned it.......See, Im still pissed

I would have freaked out too if someone was puting there crap on my truck and leaning on it. Some people are just oblivious. My paint seems to chip off real bad. Especialy on the plastic parts. If I get any scratches they eventualy turn into chips and start to spread. Then when I put on touch up paint, it makes the edges of the chip soft and I peels away even further. My truck is a 2000. A truck that is only a few years old should not have paint problems like that. Chevy realy dropped the ball on the paint they use.
