Mothers Powerball
I saw it in the SEMA coverage in several mags but I couldn't find it in any store around here...bought it off ebay. It's $30 and it attatches to your drill.
I finally got a chance to use it today to polish my wheels...I scooped some of my Mothers Billet Polish onto the ball and went at it. If you've got polished aluminum wheels...this is awesome. It's a MILLION times easier and it does alot better job than you could ever dream of by hand!!! |

Yeah...but I don't have $130 to spend on that stuff right now....and you still have to polish before you use it.

I don't have the Mother's polishing ball, but I do use the Flitz ball all the time with
Blue Magic. Works a lot faster than I do.... |

Re: Mothers Powerball
Well I've had my wheels since 99 so they're a lil beat up, but as far as small scatches I don't
believe so. Once dirty it can be taken apart and washed in mild soap..I have a pic of a wheel I did. It's not real good but you can get the idea how it works.. Re: Mothers Powerball
I trust Mothers products. That's why I went with it.
It works great....It just rained today and is supposed to snow overnight...otherwise I'd get some pics up to see how great of a job it did. I used the Mothers Ultimate Billet Polish. With the Powerball, it made my wheels shine alot more than when I do it by hand. It's alot easier to polish any kind of oxidation marks with it than by hand. |

You can get polishing bits at hot shows and swapmeets. Same as that Mothers deal, but they only cost about $4.

Re: Mothers Powerball
For what it's worth, the Flitz tv special comes with the ball, a small tube of flitz and a few small packages
of Flitz. It was 19.95 + shipping & handling. It came out to 27. & change for me. If you could find the cheaper polish pads that would be the way to go, or if you can find the Mother's Powerball but if not here's the link. Click the "As seen on TV" when you get there if you want to ck it out.> www.flitz.com ![]() |

Re: Mothers Powerball
A non-abrasive polish would work best. Poorboys Professional Polish is great stuff but if your looking for something off the shelf I can't really think of anything that compares.
Using a carnuba wax after is an okay idea but it won't last long. |

Re: Mothers Powerball
Any of you use real polish? Like the stuff that comes in bars. I have a full polish kit that I bought when I clipped a curb almost a couple years ago that I will probably pull out this summer used a medium grit polish to get rid of the little rock nicks and then use the finer one and after that probably throw on some zoop seal that I will be buying now that I have my tax return. Look at my avatar, thats 6 months without polishing and a quick car wash.
Here is a better pic. ![]() Last edited by Grinch78 : 04-28-2005 at 03:02 PM. |

Re: Mothers Powerball
I bought a powerball today and have mixed opinions on it. Its quick, it does a good job of removing oxidation, and its fairly gentle but i noticed it gets warm under even light pressure. Plus its nowhere near as soft as a latex glove. I'm going to continue using it on the backs of my wheels where I have a lot of wide open areas because it cuts down on time considerably. As for the fronts, I'm sticking to hand polishing. It's a lot gentler and provides superior results in my opinion.
My opinion on the billet/chrome debate... I know, I know, spelling > me![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Mothers Powerball
You'd lose money on that bet. It's not your fault, you probally never seen properly taken cared off billit rims since the average persons doesn't know or doesn't like to maintain them. Or you've probally been feed some bullshlt from salesmen who would rather steer you into buy chrome rims because they usually cost more. Billit - deep, rich shine Chrome - shallow, cheap shine. Look back at the many Billit Vs Chrome thread billit wins for the better shine. Chrome only wins for the easy to clean votes, but as those who know will tell you, they rather take the time to have rims with the better shine. |
