Mother's Power Ball...

Who owns one and what do you think of it? Is it worth it for chrome wheels? How do you use it? polish on by hand and then the ball or apply it with the ball? You can say, "go to the autoparts store and look at" but realize that they don't have one out here on the USS Enterprise in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! I am trying to decide if this is a toy I want waiting for me when I get home and have to completely detail the truck before going anywhere.

Re: Mother's Power Ball...

I have cleaned my wheels and they always look 100% better after going over them with chrome polish...plus they aren't as hard to clean the next time...hell..I could probably wax them and get the same effect...I used to wax my baby moons.

Re: Mother's Power Ball...

i had one and it only lasted a few times, then it started falling apart. i'm sure they make them out of foam on purpose so you have to keep buying more. it worked good when i first got it though. imo you're better off getting a cloth type ball from http://www.flitz.com to where you can just wash it and its back to new and it won't fall apart on you

No, not for that much, and you are right. It does look like just a cut up sponge. I was skeptical about it at first, and thought about tryin the Flintz ball instead.

But I managed to get my powerball for 10$. It works well on my Centerlines. Saves a bunch of time. Just added the Mothers alum polish goop to the ball and go to work, then wipe off with a terrycloth.

The only problem I have with the big one is getting into tight spaces. Like around the valve stem and lugs. Maybe the little one would work a little better.

A friend tried the ball on her chrome wheels and got nice results with the chrome polish.

I' like to see if anyone has any experience with Zoops, so I can keep my wheels lookin good for longer periods of time. http://www.zoopseal.com/zoopseal.asp

I've had 3 sets of Centerlines, I fiound that Mothers Billit Polish works best. I've made rotten looking Centerlines look like glass.

Re: Mother's Power Ball...

I bought one a while back, I use it for my diamond plate toolbox... it is worth every cent. I used to spend 3-4 hours hand polishing the diamond plate, now I can do it in less than an hour with a more even look than by hand as well. The only down side is that if you use a cordless drill, you may want to charge the battery ahead of time... unlike me... lol

Re: Mother's Power Ball...

I bought the small buff ball a few days ago, and a bottle of the chrome polish. It worked realy well, and faster than by hand. I was a little dissapointed in the fact that it can't get in real small places, even with it being the mini ball. But all and all a good buy.

Re: Mother's Power Ball...

It still saves some time tho, even if it can't get all the itty bitty cracks -n- crevices

Re: Mother's Power Ball...

I have both but I use the mini ball the most. The work great and it's faster also. The little nooks and crannies are a bit of a pain but not bad to do now that I can get the rest of the billit wheel done so fast.

Re: Mother's Power Ball...

I bought the lil ball today along with some Mother's mag polish.
I found if using the stem with the lil ball that the plastic "grows"
or expands and makes it cause friction with a squeaking sound.
I trimmed about 1/8" off the plastic housing and now the lil ball
works good. I used to use Blue Magic polish. It worked ok.
The Mother's is ok.

I have a large buff ball from Flitz that I've been using for a
couple yrs now. I believe I like it better than the Mother's
which is more a rubbery foam type material, where the Flitz
is a more fibrous cloth type, and to me more stout.
I bought the first kit shown when Flitz had it at 19.95 on a
TV deal. Still it's not bad at 29.95, but they get ya on
shipping if I remember right. I think total it came out to 28.00
when I bought it on Flitz's "As seen on TV" deals.
http://www.flitz.com/tv.html

Anyway they sure beat hand rubbing. That got old quick.

Re: Mother's Power Ball...

mine fell apart after about 4 or 5 uses, but it depends on how much you polish your wheels.. they're worth it if you only polish like once a month, but I don't know anyone who does it more often than that. A good polish with minimal maintenance should last a while...

Re: Mother's Power Ball...

i have one of each the regular and mini powerball

The first regular ball i got last year when they came out, worked awesome
Now it was my own damn fault for polishing my friend's wheels 2 weeks ago and i got the regular ball stuck and it ripped right off the center. I finished the remaining wheels with the mini ball and it brought back the shine.

For my truck, its hard to get under the spokes since the wheels are smoothie II with the huge lip, the mini ball fits perfect. Power Metal is awesome stuff if you have patience and it lasted me about 6 weeks and 3 washes of the truck before needing it again.
