meguiars tire shine.....SUCKS

ok i just spent the last 3 hours washing my truck, i ran out of eagle one tire dressing last time so i bought the meguiars thinking its better. I sprayed it on (generously) and let it soak in. I took a step back and it sux. The eagle one stuff is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better. I spent like $5 or so on that bottle. Never again for me.

Eagle one > Meguiars

yeah, meguiars suck. it sure does last though. i was a dumbshit and decidided to renew the coplor of my rhino liner and i sprayed some on it. well i didnt think about rain, and sure enough the rain washed it down my truck! its been on there for a month now and it still dripss haha. my stupidity though.

I don't really care for the spray because its too high gloss, and it attracts a lot of dust.

Yea but how do you get that gel crap off once on for a long time ? Out here in SoCal
the smog has dire effects on tires and when I used that gel, after a while the tire started
to take on a yellowish waxy look. I still haven't found anything to take it off, except some
paint thinner and I don't want to use that..Any ideas ?

That never happened on my tires. I've used it a various brands of tires.

Could be your tires just don't take well to it.

go gel or go home ! At the very least if you do like a spray on product, simply spray or soak an area of a towel and apply it that way. I hate getting overspray on my rims...

I use the meguiars hot shine shit.. I put it on a pad, and spread it around, and I like it.. I dunno.. It seems to last a pretty long time, I mean..

It lasts a few days, and thats good enough for me..

I perfer the gels too, but for those that use sprays, do like the shops do and cut out a piece of cardboard to the size of your rims (18" circle if you got 18"s and so on), and place it over the rim when you spray the tires. It'll stop the overspray.

I also agree, the meguiars tire gel stuff is the sh*t but I can never find it out where I live anymore...That hot shine spray both in the bottle and can is garbage...I recently bought some spray in a red bottle from Mothers and it works pretty good for me...

I like to use armor all. I just wipe it off right after i spray it. I dont like for my tires to be shinier than my paint.

I like No-Touch Satin, works great, the right amount of shine for me (high gloss tires doesn't look too cool when I go off road). I bought Meg's Hot Shine and it leaves a blotchy uneven finish and I'm not crazy about the aerosol as it's a fine spray that you end up breathing in.. Since you still have the can, spray a few thin coats and then after it sets for a few minutes, wipe off the excess with a foam applicator pad or terry towel. Meguiars makes some great products, their tire dressing isn't one of them. I would complain on the meguiarsonline.com forum but they get mad at me for complaining about their product, some would welcome the feedback, not them.

When i clean my XJ's BFG MT's i don't use shine cause they get too muddy too fast

to clean all the dirt/grease/brake dust crap off I use citrus orange cleaner. It isn't glossy but sure makes the tires clean as a whistle. Spray it on, let it sit for a while, then wipe off all thats left. For my truck I use black magic in a bottle or armor all tire foam.

i use that meguires hot spray stuff, i sprayit on with "my" circle in place and let it sit for about 30min to 1 hour,(meantime i go inside and do other stuff or start cleanin the interior) wipe off and they look good nuff for me. when i first got the stuff i sprayed on and waited like 2min and it did look like crap. so if you already have it spray it on and wait a while. if you havent bought it, dont, it gets evrywhere but the spin off is easy to clean off, just wipe.

im gonna try the foam stuff or what evryone is praising on the 1st page.
