Meguiars Cleaner Wax
I just want to know what all your takes are on Meguiars Cleaner Wax..
I have a show on Saturday & Sunday. I have Friday off also for my prep work.. I've Polished with TurtleWax Polish & then waxed it with Meguiars Gold Class Liquid wax.. Did that on 08/20/2004 and it's now 09/28/2004 and all the swirl marks and shit are back.. They;ve been back for awhile now.. It looked real good at first though.. I am wondering if anybody had any luck with just using a cleaner wax to get it swirl free for temporary usage, atleast.. I only have 1 day to detail the whole truck over, and I imagine it's going to take the WHOLE day.. Inside & out, top to bottom, engine & bed .. So I don't want to spend TOO much time on the swirl removing.. Pretty much just wondering if I can use the cleaner wax insted of polishing & then waxing.. Cause that didn't last as long as I expected it would.. |

Re: Meguiars Cleaner Wax
I've used it on two of my vehicles. On the Blazer it's old, oxidized 17-year old paint. The wax really gave it a nice shine and made water bead up up perfectly. On the other, a car with glossy paint and some scratches and swirl marks, the wax didn't fix that and it quit beading up within a week or two. So you'd probably be better off with something else.

Re: Meguiars Cleaner Wax
I use the cleaner wax more as a cleaner then a wax, i always apply Gold Class after i am done using the cleaner, on white you won't see the swirl marks from it, darker colors you will need an electric buffer to get them out, but when they are out, if the paint is in good condition it will look like glass.
Meguiars has out another new wax, i haven't tried it yet, waiting till my bottle of Gold class is empty, and i think it was around 15 a bottle. |

Re: Meguiars Cleaner Wax
you are skipping a step, removing the swirl marks! Mequiars products are numbered. Cleaner wax is used first to prepare the surface then the swirl remover and topped off with the gold class.

Re: Meguiars Cleaner Wax
I always use the 3 step, but lately I've been using their synthetic NXT wax instead of the 3rd step wax. God damn I love that stuff.

Re: Meguiars Cleaner Wax
The NXT is pretty slick... but not as slick as Zaino. However, I believe NXT contains fillers, so it will hide swirls/cobwebs better. A good Meguiars product for removing swirls is #80 and if needed #83 -- I don't know if you can use them by hand though.
You can find good information about detailing and products at http://autopia.org |

Re: Meguiars Cleaner Wax
Yes, always use the cleaner wax first. Then use the meguiars show care glaze, then top it off w/ some gold class. Then when you get to the show use some of their quick detailer to really make it shine.
