magic eraser for rims....

has anyone used them on their polished or chrome rims? that maybe a stupid question since i have used them on my old rims to try and clean them up and it does clean them up, but im affraid to use them on my new ones, cuz im not sure if it will take the clear off the rims. my old ones were losing their clear anyways, so i just thought y not and they cleaned up nice and polished them(they look good, but wish i could get rid of them). so just let me know if u have used the magic eraser for rims yet and if it didnt take the clear off?

Re: magic eraser for rims....

The magic eraser feels awfully abrasive to the touch...I would be careful.

Re: magic eraser for rims....

a·bra·sive
1. Causing abrasion: scratched the stovetop with an abrasive cleanser.
2. Harsh and rough in manner: an unpleasant, abrasive personality.

In other words, it's likely to scratch the dog piss out of your wheels. But I have never used one on rims so I can't say for sure.

Re: magic eraser for rims....

I didn't know they made a rims one. The one I saw was just the general cleaning one.

Re: magic eraser for rims....

yeah they make ones just for rims.....i found mine at target in the automotive section. well i have used them on my old rims, and the brake dust that has collected on the outside as well as the inside was cleaned off like it was nothing plus brought a little shine to them, so i thought tonight i would try them on the rims i ride on and it took off the brake dust and basically was a quick wash solution instead with a little extra. i used the eraser on the rims..no scratches left or what not, took the brake dust off, quick solution for cleaning, as well as left the rims shiney. after using the eraser, i polished them up with some polish and they shined up nice, so im going to go back to my old rims and shine them up to hopefully sell them. sorry for no pics, but no digi!
