liquid claybar ....pros and cons
so those of you that are late night people might be flipping through the channels and saw a advertisement for the ICE liquid claybar. the people at my work decided to oreder it and try it before we put it on the shelves, so today i tried it and heres what i found out. it is applied the same way you apply wax. comes with about a foot dize aplicator pad with a slever for your hand so its easy to scrub
Pros: -gets rid of oxidization very well (had some one the corners of my truck and after some scrubbing it was gone) -will get minor sap dots out with some scrubbing -woks like a wax and makes paint smoothe -can use in sun cons: -you cant wipe off with microfiber towel, sounds easy but doesnt wash off very well with water. -water seems to stay on and not want to dry and waterspots -does not shine up so much so you SHOULD use some other wax to finish it off -does not get rid of large sap spots any bigger than a pinhead without major scrubbing i personaly would like to go with the physical bar. anyone else try this and actully like it better? |

I used meguire's clay bar yesterday, I love it, it made the paint SMOOOOOTH and got rid of the overspray.

Re: liquid claybar ....pros and cons
the original clay bar is the way to go (ex: Clay Bar, Meguirs, Mothers). I've used them for years long before you could go to the parts store and buy them. The only real downside to them is that they dry out quickly and tend to stick to your hands. Its not that big of a deal just make sure to keep either the supplied lube, or a quick spray wax handy and soak the crap out of it.

Re: liquid claybar ....pros and cons
I'm interested in what you guys say the real thing is? Automagic owns the patents for the clay available right now so 99% of clay is made by them.

By saying original we mean the actual claybar not the liquid claybar that SpencerSa was talking about.

Re: liquid claybar ....pros and cons
i've only used the liquid claybar.... next i'm gonna try the actual claybar to have a referrence but i didn't have any trouble spraying it off with the water hose... i did wax afterwards, mainly because it says on the bottle to follow it with wax and minor scratches oxidation and abrasions like assholes opening their cardoors on it that i could not get off with even a little fingernail action, it got these off rather easily without much scrubbing..

Re: liquid claybar ....pros and cons
I used the liquid clay bar as well. worked good for very small things but I should have got the real bar. not worth the money really.

Re: liquid claybar ....pros and cons
Used my liquid claybar after a good wash, inside the wash bay and out of the sun, was perfect, honestly It came out the same as when I used the REAL clay except it was real easy to use, came off with a microfiber and took me less than 45 minutes to do the whole truck, one panel at a time, no problem with it here

Re: liquid claybar ....pros and cons
hmmm lot of mixed opinions. I always detail my truck and since this the first year i will probably not have to buff it out i decided to buy the liquid claybar to give it a try and see if its as easy as they say. I need to get some minor swirls out and just want to reapply some wax. What has everyone used right after the clay?

Re: liquid claybar ....pros and cons
I just clay barred my truck last weekend with the Mequiars Claybar Kit, what a difference. After that was done I waxed the truck with Mequiars Cleaner Wax. After I wash it this weekend I will apply Mequiars Gold Class.
