Keeping white, white???

Hey guys, Anyone have a white truck or car? You know how if you dont wash it for a long time (Or buy it used when it hasnt been washed) you have lots of little "Black Dots" and you can feel them embedded in the paint? Well, I have A LOT of that, and no matter how hard I wash and scrub I cant get that SH!T out!

Would a Clay bar work????

Thanks.

Wash, then clay, then polish.
If that does not work, (most likely it will), you may want to do an acid wash...
Remember to re-seal or wax when finished cleaning or polishing.

Re: Keeping white, white???

First i would wash it really good, then use some solvent to get excess tar and gunk off, then claybar, then nice coat of polish/wax

Re: Keeping white, white???

K thanks!

I use Meguiar's Gold Car wash solution, and Meguiar's NXT tech wax (GREAT stuff btw)

And no matter how hard I scrub, I just cant get that sh!t out... so I think a clay bar will do me right.

Re: Keeping white, white???

The claybar should do the trick for you. Otherwise you might want to try cleaning your paint with a good non abrasive polish. You could try something like Poorboys Pro Polish or Adam's Revive using a Porter Cable 7336 random orbit polisher. Meguiar's also has a paint cleaner you could try but the polisher will make a world of difference no matter what product you choose.

Claybar should do the job.

Re: Keeping white, white???

yea...like everyone says give it a good wash and then the clay bar will do the trick but remember you must at the very least wax it when you are done clay baring it because the clay bar will take everything off.....i would suggest a good wash, clay bar, a nice polish, and then finally one or two coats of wax...that should do you great

Re: Keeping white, white???

I have a 92 and it has GM's infamous 1 stage artic white paint. It was messed up pretty bad, and still
is but was able to get rid of a LOT of the mess ups by using Liquid Glass precleaner and then
Liquid Glass polish sealer..It takes a lot of work, but you'd be surprised how nice LiqGlass makes
old paint look..But it'll only get that way if you use the pre cleaner first then the polish sealer.

Re: Keeping white, white???

My white pickup is less than two years old and when I claybar'ed it, the paint looked 100% better. I used the Mothers clay bar kit.

Acid wash will make it look dull and it is really hard on paint (duh, it is acid wash). Our 18 wheelers used to get acid washed and they looked dull and faded. Acid wash makes aluminum tarnish very quickly.

Re: Keeping white, white???

Cool, I started Clay baring it at about 9:00 a.m. ish, and finished around 10:20, I washed it with Meguiar's Gold car wash (GREAT stuff) Then 3 layers of Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax (GREAT stuff as well) Finished around 12:15 p.m.

It looks a LOT better, Not perfect, but WAY better than it did before, I plan to eventually paint it, so for now this is MORE then "Good enough"

Thanks for the help guys!

Re: Keeping white, white???

Good to hear everything worked out.

A note on Meguiars NXT. NXT has mild cleaners in it so you can't really layer it because the new coat will remove some or all of the previous one. I think 2 coats is fine but anything after that your probably just wasting product.
