just polished truck ok to wait a day or 2 to wax

decided to do a good detail cleaning today since it was really nice out. it took me bout 5 hours to wash and polish my truck and to get my tires shiny. i did everything by hand so my arm is bout to fall off.my truck is black so u can see almost all imperfections u miss so i had to make sure to get the polish off or u could still see it. is it ok to wait till bout 2 day to apply the wax or will i have to polish again?

Re: just polished truck ok to wait a day or 2 to wax

It's ok

Just make sure to wash it again before applying the wax.

Sounds like you put a lot of time and effort into it..., that calls for pics

You should have no problem waiting a few days. It sounds like you did a lot of prep work don't let it all go to shame. Wax is key to protecting all that hard work.

Maybe just shoot some detail spray over it to help hold you over until you have time to apply the primary wax coat.

Actually your supposed to put the wax on first......to protect. Then the polish to make it look good. Polish washes off after about 6 washes.
Tip.....w/ black paint.....use microfiber to take the wax/polish off

WTF are you talking about, don't listen to this guy.

You'll be ok, i'd just rewash or hit it with a quick detail spray then top it with your wax.

Re: just polished truck ok to wait a day or 2 to wax

Ive been detailing for 5 years.....we use all car-brite products. After using polishing compound, your supposed to put a coat of wax on. After the vehicle is waxed, we use a product called Crystal shine that is a polish, which is silicone based that just makes the shit shine 'like a diamond in a goats ass" the Crystal shine only lasts a couple of washes though. So thats why you put the wax on first. EVERYONE HAS THERE WAY OF DOING THIS, IT DEPENDS ON THE PRODUCTS USED.

I figured there had to be some product out there that didn't work in the conventional method. I guess the general rule should be to know your product and follow the instructions.

Re: just polished truck ok to wait a day or 2 to wax

I will take your word for it since you have indeed use this product. But I have found his quote on a website.

Quote:
Is a mildly aggressive, highly durable polish. This polish is used to remove light scratches, oxidation and swirl marks from all paint finishes while leaving the vehicle with a deep rich gloss.
Sounds like it has cleaners in it. Which will remove the sealant/wax you already have on the finish. Possibly has protectant qualities.. who knows? But from the sounds of it, it would be pointless to wax before using this if its cleaners are strong enough to remove all previous sealant/wax

Re: just polished truck ok to wait a day or 2 to wax

You're wasting your time waxing first, the crystal shine polish is taking it right off. The crystal shine is cleaning up the paint, removing the imperfections etc. The correct procedure would be to top that with a wax to give it added protection, depth, and gloss. Sorry but just because you've been doing it that way for 5 years doesn't mean it's correct but to each their own.

I'm just wondering why your arm is soo tired.. I mean, your not supposed to apply that much pressure when your working on the truck.. And you can't go fast enough to create the heat to actually do any good to the paint as if you had a buffer..

So why did it take you 5 hours .. Erm.. I think your trying too hard.. Atleast thats what it seems, that or you take alot of breaks..

you can definitely polish by hand, buffer not required.

If you're trying to polish out swirls by hand you're arm will be tired. 5 hours isn't long at all, I usually spend at least that much time on a detail using my polisher, depends on how many steps it needs.

All I know is that when Car Brite demonstrates their products at the local dealerships, they say to use crystal shine last as it contains silicone which doesnt protect.......BTW their website is very generic.....they use that same description for multiple products. Everyone has there own way of doing things, I just do them the way that the manufacturer recommends.
