If cerium oxide will take out scratches I would guess it will fix acid rain spots.

If I remember correctly from other threads, go to a glass shop and just ask for a rag with cerium oxide on it...(asking politely) Something like that....Not sure where else you can get it ?

Re: i need help cleaning my glass?????

Try some wire wheel cleaner. No joke. It has some type of acid in it that takes water spots off windows and paint. We used some on a SS Silverado and it looked brand new. The kind we used was called wire wizard or something it's in a white spray bottle. Wear gloves and put some on a rag. Do a small area at a time. Make sure you keep the area soaked with the stuff, and rinse the area off and then dry it. It doesn't work as well if the panel is wet. It may take a couple of tries but it really does work. Just make sure you rinse everywhere the stuff touches, and DON'T LET IT DRY ON THE PAINT.

Re: i need help cleaning my glass?????

for a "homemade remedy" approach, you can try Bon Ami. I used this after searching for a while on the net to get rid of smears from the wiperblades in the rain (even new ones) I haven't used a window cleaner that does a better job then this stuff and its only 79 cents a can at the grocery store.

BMW had a service bulletin suggesting the use of Bon Ami to remove anything and everything from old pitted windshields that dirt and grime could not be scrubbed out with conventional methods.

Go to your local supermarket and take a look there. It should be available in the cleaning section... you need to buy the Bon Ami cleaning powder... not the polishing cleaner. the polishing one might scratch your windshield.

Just remember, cleaning powder

http://www.faultless.com/bonami.asp You can see the difference in packaging here.

Noisy Wipers, Poor Cleaning: Group 61 Electrical

Woodcliff Lake, NJ
May 1994
Product Engineering

SUBJECT:
Windshield Wipers Are Noisy Or Do Not Clean Properly

MODELS:
All

Situation:
Windshield wiper blades may start to make noise, or fail to clean the windshield properly, even though the blades are not worn and are properly adjusted.

This can be caused by contaminants on the glass, such as oily road deposits or wax residues from car washes. These contaminants can cause the blades to chatter across the glass or fail to wipe cleanly.

Correction:
Common contaminants that are not removed by conventional glass cleaner can be cleaned with Bon Ami(R), a household cleaning product.

The cleaner should be applied on a wet cloth or sponge and the windshield must be thoroughly and evenly scrubbed. Wipe off residue with a clean, dry cloth before the product dries on the glass.

Warranty Status:
Information only.

Additional notes

There appear to be some imitation products, or lesser versions of Bon Ami. Make sure you are buying the real product. Faultless Starch Company has the rights to sell it in the USA. Up in Canada, it's sold by the S.C. Johnson Company. If you have other questions for them, call them directly at:

Re: i need help cleaning my glass?????

I use some stuff called finess. You could try most rubbing compounds. Rub it on the window and take some fine steel wool and rub it in good. Take some window cleaner and clean them off.
This is what we did when I worked for a detail shop. worked good.

Re: i need help cleaning my glass?????

I kind of don't want to steal this thread, but I'm having a problem with my glass too. It appears that the prvious owner didn't bother to tape up most of the windows or didn't do a good job of it so there's all this primer (I'm guessing) all over the windows, I used a razor blade to take most of it off, but it's very tedious, to get off with that blade. My friend told me there's a compound or something I can use to get it right off, but I don't remember what it is called. Again sorry for doing this in this thread.
