how to make my exhaust pipes shine!!

I wanna know how to make my chrome dual exhaust pipes shine! Right now it's no big deal since we are getting rain for the entire week...no reason in shining them up. I just want to know of an easy way to get a nice looking shine from them. Thanks guys.

Chrome cleaner will make them shine try and do it after every washing and they will shine as well as not tarnish.

Re: how to make my exhaust pipes shine!!

I usually use Never Dull on them first because it removes the stubborn little tar & road grime pieces off. I then use Mothers, flitz, or a good cleaner of that nature on mine, & then a nice coat of wax for a little protection. I have had mine on a year & still look like the day I got them.

Re: how to make my exhaust pipes shine!!

I got some stuff called Turtle Wax Chrome Polish. I've heard it works good, and it gives it a mirror-like finish with a protective coating that repels rain, ice, snow, and road salt. So this should work good...I'll just wait a few days since it's raining for the next week..Then I'll wash the truck and use this stuff. Thanks guys. Peace.

Maybe turtle wax has changed their Chrome polish, but the stuff they used to make was abrasive and would scratch. Unless the chrome is in bad shape, I wouldn't use the Turtle wax polish. If the chrome is just dirty, soap and water should work fine. You can also use glass cleaner but it will remove any wax as well so follow with more wax.

Mothers and a scicle polishing wheel or ploishing burr. You can just install it on a cordless drill and buff it.Then just wipe it clean with a terry cloth rag or a cotton t-shirt.

Re: how to make my exhaust pipes shine!!

i've done this on other peoples tips with decent results, only to do the same on mine with just as good results. get the finest brillo pad you can find, its like 000 i think. slap some polish on there of your choice. rub alot(dont push as hard as you can, this will leave noticable scrathces into the chrome). wipe the polish off. polish again using regular techniques and it should look great. this is mostly just for removing stubborn tar and road grime that you cant seem to get off any other way.

you'd be borderline retarded to try this on wheels(chrome or billet) based on what i've said. think about it this way, don't try it without knowing that there is a decent chance of marring the finish. and if its just on an exhaust tip, who cares, its only like $45 to replace. (mine is flat on the bottom anyway from scraping)

I bought a new bottle of it this past weekend to use on some chrome bumpers. They must have changed the formula from when I last used the stuff (about 10-11 years ago) because it's not abrasive anymore and worked pretty well.

Simi-Chrome is really good. I was using it before it even hit our MC stores. Had to get it at the local Police supply store. I think we get it for $6.95? Also if you get fine grain steel wool, the more zero's, the less abrasive. I get 0000 at the least but like 00000. I wouldnt hesitate to use it on chrome rims. It never scratched mine, & kept the winter crap build up off.

yeah, I just went out and used Windex, not sure why I never thought of that idea. It worked very well, shined up the pipes real good, and they still look good, 2 weeks later.

Re: how to make my exhaust pipes shine!!

Windex works great on chrome! I tell all my customers to use it. The other thing that you guys might want to try and it's out on the market now from S100 is their Chrome Cleaner & Polish. It's in a tub like that you'd get for wax and it comes with a sponge. It's kind of a cakey powdery substance that soaps up really good for when you start to clean. It has a very nice (but strong) lemony scent to it.

Think of it this way - most of my customers that use it ride $15,000 - $65,000 Harley's and custom choppers. They use it and they love it. If you're in a dealership or whatever, stop in and buy it. If you don't like it, give it to your neighbor.

Re: how to make my exhaust pipes shine!!

Windex works good for cleaning chrome but it will strip any protective finish off. If you clean your chrome with Windex be sure to follow the cleaning with a coat of wax or sealant.
