I used half a bottle of that stuff today cleaning tar off the front bumper, hood, windshield, and passenger side of my truck today. I used what was on the rag to try and clean it off a piece of one of my rims. I was scared that it would mess up the finish. I have tar strung on both rims on the passenger side still, because I didn't wanna mess up anything.

Should I be fine using Bug and Tar remover on the rims?

This may sound bad.....but gasoline in a spray bottle works great! Follow up by a good wash, then put a coat of wax on them. It will not hurt either the paint or the chrome......as long as you dont let the gas sit on there for a long time....

Re: how to get tar of chrome rims

as mentioned above you can use gas or diesel. it will remove very easily from your paint.

Re: how to get tar of chrome rims

I ended up using WD-40 and it worked well, then washed them down with some car wash soap.
I should have used WD on the paint as well because the bug and tar remover that I used didn't work all that well. It took me close to an hour to clean down the passenger side of the truck.
