i just waxed my truck about two weeks ago, polish, wax, clay bar all that. im wondering if its too soon to wax and polish it again? and if the wax like builds up and gets crummy after a while?

Monthly is way to often. I dont know that it hurts anything to wax it alot other then your arms, but whats the point. I work as a detailer as a living and we reccomend waxing about every 6 months. I would do it about once every other month or so if you are really into your vehicle (like most people here are). I havent waxed mine in two and a half years (primer), but I wax others everyday

i agree w/ futuresweets10 once every 2 months or so is good enough, just use a detailer spray in between.

You cant exactly do it yourself, but the wash I work at has some stuff called "simonize tripple foam" and its meant to be used once a month in between hand waxing, its a spray on wax. Some do it your self washes have a gun just for that product so you can do it yourself. Its a good product for prolonging the life of wax and if you arent happy with it (at least where I work) simonize will refund your money.

The stuff I use is called "Dolphinite T-wax Sealant" it's available at most marine and boat dealer supply stores. It's wax for Speed Boats and other gel coated surfaces. For marine environments, it claims to last 6 times longer than other liquid waxes, I got it to protect my gel-coated tonneau cover, but I like it so well, I've waxed my entire truck with it, including all the chrome. I hate waxing, not because it's hard work or anything, I love hard work, I hate it because of all the white powder that gets all over my truck when I wax. This way, I wax about twice a year insted of every couple of months, like with other waxes. Costs about $15.00 for 16 fl. oz

If you ever want to strip the wax off your ride, use dish-soap, it works wonders. |

Never ever use dish soap on your trucks paint. Not only does it strip all of the wax off, it will also remove the nutrients out of the clear coat turning it dull looking. And you'll end up having to get a new paint job soon. Its better to use car soap and use a paint cleaner like meguiar's paint cleaner or body scrub to safely remove the wax and other bonded contaminates from the paint.
