How necessary is rain, really?

okay, on my back windshield i have been cursed with the dreaded WATER STAINS!!!!! does anyone have any idea how to get this crap off?
I use glass cleaner in an aerosol can by a company called STONER. it works really, really well on windows, mirrors, etc. but if you have a case of 'rain stain' as i do it does'nt help that. Also, i've found that Zymol wax and polish is by far the best i've used. It's slightly more expensive than others (Ferrari owners and such swear by it) yet you can find it anywhere. wal mart, autozone, etc.

Re: How necessary is rain, really?

Go to a good glass shop and get a tub of cirium oxide. It's a pink powder that is an abrasive. Get a damp wax applicator, dip it in the powder, and apply just like wax. rinse it off. If the water still beads, do it again. It may take several trys but it will work. I used to install windows on the side and this stuff worked great for removing scratches. "No Touch" makes a product for this also but it doesn't work as well.

First, clay the glass, then-

Try white distilled vinegar to remove the rainspots.
You can also try mineral spirits to remove it if the vinegar does not work.

Zymol that is found in Wal-Mart, etc is made by Turtle Wax

Have you had a chance to try any of the high end protectants such as Einszett, Klasse or Zaino?(I think you would really be amazed at the difference)

Re: How necessary is rain, really?

i always have those damn rain stains on my windows
what i am more concerned about is there is like a dirty film on my windshield from where the wipers never touch near the top and sides. will the cirium oxide take this off too or is there something else that works better for this?
thanks

Yes it will...I use it every few months. It takes off all the crap. Do yourself a favor and apply it by hand. It will also remove scratches...within reason..

Re: How necessary is rain, really?

As long as the scratch isn't to severe. If you get the cirium oxide at a glass shop they should also have a hard felt wheel for applying it. It chucks up in a drill and is about2" tall and 2" across. However...a light touch is needed as it can make things worse...too much is not always a good thing.
