Re: How in the

Shops out here charge like $3 - $5 per window to remove the tint. Well worth it to me to have them handle it.

Re: How in the

i have also heard put a black plastic garbage bag over it and put it in the sun helps loosen it a lot. peeling the film off itself isnt too bad to do. Its the getting all the residue off.

Re: How in the

just make sure the razor blade is level with the window. Its the corners of the razor blade that are going to scratch your windows.

Re: How in the

I used to tint windows and have removed window film on plenty of cars. wait for a warm, preferibly a hot day and let the windows bake in the sun so it softens up the glue and then use a razor blade or fingernail and pick at the top to get it started and it should peel off as you pull, but it will leave the glue behind. If that doesnt work use a sharp razor blade and scrape it off. to get the glue off, fill a spray bottle with warm water and a little bit of dish soap and spray the window and scrape the residue off. Older window tint tends to be brittle and a pain in the ass, but you should be fine on a hot day.

Yup, I paid $10 to have 2 windows done awhile back. Took them only a few minutes too. There's so many stereo and tint shops out here, they're just out pricing each other.

Re: How in the

Heat gun works well to soften it up, but when you pull the tint down pull soft and even. I saw a guy at work pull his off after getting pulled over and he did it all pissed off, pulled to hard, pulled the glass to far and broke the window. Take your time.

Re: How in the

When scraping with a razor, ALWAYS use a clean, sharp, new razor, and soak the area with soapy water first (dish soap). We use this when we're cleaning windows at work.

If it gets really bad, use Ronsonol lighter fluid. It gets sticky stuff right off (gum out of carpet and hair, stickers off of things, etc). Walmart carries it in the smoker's checkout lane.

It looks like the middle thing in this picture:
