I definatly recomend painting wheel wells.. Even tho im bagged.. You never know what people are gonna see.. ya know? The whole purpose of detailing your ride, is just that.. Details.. People WILL notice.. Even if you don't think they will, they will. People will notice if you actually took the time to get your truck ready for the show, or if you just washed it and called it a day.

Wash the car before you leave.. Do all your touch up painting and shit .. Clean your wheels, tire shine and shit.. Drive to show..

Detail, you may get sling on the side of your truck depending on what tire shine you use.. But the reason for applying it before you leave is so it has time to dry and it doesnt have that really black wet look.. A more natural black color is better..

Get out you window cleaner.. spray windows, clean em.. Reason for doing this first is some sprays leave spots on your point.. and over spray.. yeah

Next.. Microfiber cloth.. Some detail spray.. definatly not a lot.. I see guys who squirt it right onto their panels .. And that can be alright, if you just barely mist it.. but what i recomend is give 2 squirts of detail spray on a microfiber towel, and start wiping.. Give it another squirt here and there when it starts to dry up..

Wipe down any newly added break dust..

Shouldn't have to do a whole lot of detailing AT the show, especially if its a local show.. Now if its out of town, you might want to hit up a car wash nearby before you enter.. lol

Re: how do you get ready for a show?

how about engine detailin?

when i get mine ready under the hood, i let the truck run, and i spray down the whole motor, then i get some greased lightning, and spray down and let that sit for 30 seconds or so, then rinse it all out, and i'll usually drive down the road a 1/4 mile or so, and let the heat build up and dry all the rest of the water out, of course if you have aitake, you'll wana cover that up, and i've heard of coverin your alt, but i've never really done it, then once i get to the show, i always armor all my hoses lightly, and wipe down allthe painted areas...

as for paint,i paint my fender wells and frame rails down the side of the truck once a year, along withmy leafs, and rear end and all.....the little details are the most important whenshowin, so youcan havethe advantage over the next guy...
