Anyone tried the new Mr. Clean Auto dry Carwash kit? It claims to give your car a fresh wash which gives you a clear no water spot finish without any need to dry. I am considering picking up one, but I figured i'd ask around and try to get a review or two first. Any help or info is appreciated. Thanks again!

ya i'm for sure going to go pick one up when i can find it! i hate washing the truck here in cali during the summer, it's impossible to wash then hurry and dry before it leaves water spots..
now i just need to find where i can buy it...... haven't found it yet |

I've got two of the "starter kits" and I have to say WOW!
I won them at the Nopi Nats this year in a drawing. After going over the entire truck, I would say that there are only a few places where water stays, but that alone is freakin awsome. Only minimal drying is needed (nothing is perfect ya know). But it makes washing the truck SOOO much easier and faster. You can order them from the website I believe but I can't remember the addy, so search around. |

The filter idea is neat and I like it, but the whole idea of the soap is just so they can sell their soap

No, not really. The soap has water softeners in it much like Jet Dry. That's the reason that it's able to dry w/o spots. The water's tension is so low that gravity just pulls it off. If you read the ingredients on the soap and on Jet Dry, the main ingredient in Jet Dry is also in their soap.
I wouldn't have thought to do that myself (using jet dry) but apparently the ppl who wash the car lot's cars a such around me use the same idea to wash the cars so that spots don't stay on the cars. |

There's nothing really wrong with them, except for the one's with brushes leave tiny scratches and the touchless ones don't always get everything as well as some would want.
For me, washing my car just makes me feel better about owning it. Like I'm takin care of it ya know? haha, I know, sappy, but hell, I love my truck! haha |

I know exacly what you mean, while I was a senior in HS, I was able to detail my truck weekly. But now since my school has a policy of no washing cars in the dorm parkin lots (plenty of room btw) it doesn't get the same attention anymore.

Hey quick question, and i realize its off topic but if i post this in a new topic I know I'll just get flamed, but I noticed your truck is a Stepside, and I wondered what that meant. Does it have to do with box length? Whats fleetside mean?

Stepside means its bed isn't as wide. It has the steps on the sides of the tirewells. Fleetside means the side on the back portion is smooth all the awy back. Here's a pick of mine. Mine is fleetside.
My question about that wash is there anything special with the soap? If there isn't then I'd probly just use the filter to keep from getting spots while im drying it. If the soap is special I wonder if it'd be harsh on my wax. I wax mine often. I believe in keepin it clean as I can. ![]() Brad |

Like I said above, the soap has water softeners in it. That's what makes the spots stay away. It's not really much at all to do with the filter (although it does help).
This is the same principle that Jet Dry goes with. When you use Jet Dry, it softens the water (less water tension). That way, the water sheets off the surface of whatever the water is on. Last edited by PaintRush : 12-29-2003 at 12:21 AM. |

Cool. We have hard water around here so it has more of a tendancy to dry up quick and leave really white looking spots. It seems like the filter alone would help me, but with the other stuff it should work out good. How often must i buy replacement kits and all that other jive?

Well for me, it seems the soap (in the small starter bottle) lasts like two good washings.

Re: Hot or Not: Mr Clean Auto Dry Car wash
I got that thing for my birthday last week. It worked okay for the first time. It dries pretty quick. I usually don't wash my truck with soap. Also, that soap that comes with it looks strikingly like dish soap. Just an observation. It sucks that the filter can only be used 3 times. That's a waste. I can go through a filter a week.

Never wash your truck with dish soap! It will kill wax and ruin your clearcoat!

Just bought this stuff and I am actually fairly impressed with it. Although, it is a little pricey at first, it does save alot of time!
it even helps get rid of those annoying spots that's created by the water coming out of your mirrors after driving. |

Re: Hot or Not: Mr Clean Auto Dry Car wash
). but we have no hose hook ups to reach. man ur luckey to even be fortunete enough to have the ability to 'sneak' in a car wash for free! believe it or not.....bowling green, a town full of hicks, has 4 quarter washes and 1 full automatic!!!! my CIVILIZED town back home only has 1 quarter wash! by civilized i mean no john deers roaming the main streets in town! (also by civilized i mean.....overheating when going downtown....downtown BG is a normal traffic light stop. downtown columbus, oh inbetween the hours of 7am-6pm in a V8ed s10, or any highly modded vehicle for that matter....no chance!!!! unless u like shutting it down and restarting it at every light- and even that doesnt work. annnnyway...back to this car wash.............im very interested in what the majority of this forum thinks. im a Marketing major.....and if a substantial amount of this forums ENORMOUS membership can vouch for this product...then i think Mr Clean would like to do some promotional advertising with us. free samples for us to help convince us to tell all our car loving-non S-Series members about? i dunno....i may be dumb to think a company with a new ,car specific product entering the market would be interested in how a forum of 15,000+ members thinks about their product. not to mention.....this is a specific make and model forum. now how many of us are friends with only other s10/s15 friends......we are a vast group....car guys t alk to other car guys. if this company were wise...then they'd be very interested in our voice. we just need one highly motivated member to assemble this project. maybe worth while? i dunno Last edited by onequickv8s10 : 02-21-2004 at 10:09 AM. |

Re: Hot or Not: Mr Clean Auto Dry Car wash
Says right on the box and the FAQ that comes with it "This product will not harm your wax in any way!". So I'm assuming no, I just finished washing my truck for the second time with mine. It's cut my wash time in half! Now I just spend the other hour of my time watching it dry...
The thing has 3 settings, soap, plain water, and filtered... I've found it definately best to rinse with plain first, then soap (make sure you use plent and get your sponge too!), then use the filtered water. As long as you get all of the soap off, it dries spotless... I also recommend taking a 1/4" drill bit and drilling a small hole in the bottom of your mirrors at the lowest point, so that the excess water can drain and doesn't end up all over the side of your truck when you drive... |

Re: Hot or Not: Mr Clean Auto Dry Car wash
hmmm? ive never seen these things before. what is it a thing that you connect to the end of a hose or something? kinda like those windex outdoor srayer things?
I see people are wondering if the soap will cut the wax off of your car..i have yet to find even a car wash soap that wont remove the wax off of the paint of your car. Because it seems like it wont touch it for about 3 or 4 hand washings but after that its gone. I use the MaGuires Gold Wax and MaGuires Car wash shampoo and conditioner and people say that, it is pretty good stuff. And I really like the stuff but that is the only thing that i can find wrong with it. |

so the idea of jet dry was brought up earlier. if it makes the water softer then can't you just put some jet dry in a miricale grow fertiizer sprayer and have it work the some what the same?? just thinking.....
