Home Detailing tip for lazy *hits
Hey y'all,
this is for the lazy folks that detail there own stuff at home. I found a trick the other day that y'all may already be using, but I thought I would throw it out there anyway. Background: I had just cleaned out the vents in my truck because the little foam seal that's on the flapper to control the amount of air coming through (the open/closed flapper thingy) was disintegrating and blowing through the truck. This shit sucked - it ruined two white shirts of mine, and I now have some (more) black smudges on the seats - when you tried to pick it up, it just melted for lack of a better term and stained whatever it was on. Anyway, the vents themselves were kindy grungy, and I tried to clean them out with some Simple Green, but I couldn't get all of the little parts in the middle. 10 years in the Navy made me sort of a neat freak when it comes to dust in my living spaces (house). The wifey and I were doing some quarterly cleaning a couple of weeks ago, and I was removing all of the glass light fixtures to throw them in the dishwasher when I got an idea. These two things came together in my mind, and I ran out to the truck and popped the vents out again and threw 'em in the dishwasher. We didn't use a lot of soap since we weren't actually washing dishes, so the plastic didn't get eaten, but they are nice and clean now. thought I would throw this out there for y'all. -sloe |
