HELP! Cleaning off winshield goo
Hey guys I've had this problem for a while and I've gotten so frustrated I've kinda pushed it to the back of my mind. For some reason my weatherstripping or windshield "seal" on the top has oozed out of bunch of silicon sticky stuff. I think it's from the heat, and I'm sure it was installed improperly. Well I;ve tried all basic forms of cleaners but it SOOOO focking sticky! It sticks to the rag so I end up smearing the crap all over the place. You can kinda see it in the pic. Any suggestions on how to get this crap off. And I know I need the windshield replaced I'm just waiting till I have cash to get my driver side power window fixed.

Had the same problem with mine. Go to Wal-Mart and get this it works great-
Automotive Wipe Away adhesive remover-with orange extract If you use it on painted areas you might want to wax that area b/c it may remove shiny finish |

I can't really make it out but they make adheisive/tar/sap remover stuff that may do the trick. I use the 3M stuff and I have had luck getting most things off, including glue.

On the first hot day of this summer, mine got real gooey on the drivers side and while on the highway at like 60mph that side of the weather stripping decided to peel up and slap the top of my roof over and over getting that tar stuff all over my roof, it sucked...

There is a product called goof off that also works pretty well. Especially if it is on the paint.

That same thing happened to me. I took it to the dealership to get it replaced and 2 months later and it is back. i guess it just cant be fixed. It is a pain b/c that stuff gets all over everything if you try to touch it. I would try tar and bug remover. That is what i used on mine the first time.

Yeah I bouught this stuff called 3M Degreaser or something like that. It was 7 bucks at pep boys in the painting and bodywork section incase anyone was wondering. It said it would take off silicon so I got it. It works great, it kinda makes the silicon really soft so you can wipe it up. Problem is the silicon keeps oozing out if I put even a little pressure on the stripping. Sounds like a prob that won't ever go away.
