Heavy Duty Engine Degreasing.

Okay so I have this 1980 Oldsmobile 350 5.7L that I was thinking about stuffing in the engine bay of my truck. But before I do, I was looking to clean it up like big time. it has about 8 years of a leaking cv boot splashed up on the driver side of the engine. Then there is also the 5 years of leaking valve cover gaskets that has oozed a constant flow of oil all over everything else, combined with road dirt and a fair amount of never cleaning the engine it is quite a sight. I have tried using that Gunk brand engine brite, but it doesnt quite cut through the tuff stuff. I was wondering if there were any tricks that people out there in "S" series land that had any ideas. I ahave heard of using steam or just a great deal of elbow grease, but does anyone have any recommendations other than this?? Please help, I dont want this baby tainting my beautiful truck. But I dont want to toss the engine. It runs solid and it was free, with the rest of the car of course.

LOL, this guy I know is a construction foreman or some crap and he has a Powerwasher that will peel the brick off of a building. He found that out by accident

Re: Heavy Duty Engine Degreasing.

I would use a power washer, but the engine is carburated *sp* and so I dont want to have to break the whole thing apart. The internals were just replacd less than a year ago, so if I can avoid that it would be best.
