Headlights... film all over?

I have some headlights on my car, and they have a white/clear - ish film on them.... Whut could I use to clean them? It appears to be on the outside... Maybe some kind of solution to rub it off that won't hurt the headlights? Thanks... there not yellowed, just some whiteish stuff on it...

Re: Headlights... film all over?

its oxidation, get a buffer and a medium cut compound and start buffing, be sure not to touch the paint because you will "burn" the edges of the paint, aka remove the paint, so protect it with card board and tape.

It is oxidation, but I wouldn't take that drastic a step to take it off. Buy some 3M Plastic Cleaner and hand buff it off. That way you don't have to worry about ruining the paint.

Re: Headlights... film all over?

I ordered mine straight off 3Ms website...it's a little pricey but a little goes a long way and the results are fantastic.

Here are some old pics of my truck that show before and after...notice the oxidation on the mirrors and bug guard. YES everyone the bug guard is gone now!

Re: Headlights... film all over?

I had yellowing problem with my Honda Civic and Toyota Camry. I learned about Novus plastic cleaner in the S10 Forum. I ordered and used it and it worked fantastic. Go to Novuspolish.com; you can get three different sizes, I ordered the 8oz. kit. I had intended on using the 3M but could not locate it in any local stores.

Re: Headlights... film all over?

Ive been detailing cars for years now, One thing i found out, use shoe polish on the headlamp apply like it was a wax, then buff off. Works wonders. Heavy rubbing compound works aswell.
