Re: haze on my windows that WONT COME OFF

try using alcohol.THAN a window cleaner.....meke sure you remove the window cleaner BEFORE the air drys it other wise it wont work . so inotherwords maybee do a 2x2 foot area at a time.
also.......stop smoking in your car! lol

Re: haze on my windows that WONT COME OFF

thats the key to getting clear windows is when your wiping them dry you cant let the air dry it before you get a chance to dry it with your towel.

Re: haze on my windows that WONT COME OFF

Invisible Glass comes in a spray can. it's really good glass cleaner, but it sounds like you may have something that cleaning won't fix. are you sure the haze is on the surface of the glass? i know windshields are actually made of 2 layers of glass, and eventually, the tint in the middle of the two layers will haze over, but i'm not sure about hatch glass. worse comes to worse, check on the camaro and firebird forums, maybe it's a common problem

Re: haze on my windows that WONT COME OFF

the thought that the plastic layer between the glass had glazed has crossed my mind, and i pray to god thats not the case. id have to replace the ENTIRE rear hatch

it LOOKS like the haze is on the inside (intereor side) of the glass, so i hope it comes off eventualy

Re: haze on my windows that WONT COME OFF

take some pics and email them to me @ 931carwash@gmail.com
i own a mobile car wash service and i have been cleaning high end cars for 13 years now
if my first suggestion doesnt work contact me and i can help you get rid of this problem.
and no you wont have to replace the hatch due to layers,etc.....

also is there a chance there was tint on the windows before you got it and its the tint glue?

worst comes to worst, glass coverage and "a rock flew up and hit your window"

Sounds weird, definatly sounds like there is nicotine build up. but you don't smoke...

Re: haze on my windows that WONT COME OFF

the car didnt come with tint from the factory, and ive dealt with aftermarket tint glue b4 and that stuff came off with a razor blade. also as ive stated i dont smoke, and as far as i know the last owner didnt either. also if it makes a difference, this car has been garage kept its entire life so it never sat in the sun for extended periods of time.

im positive w/e this is is ON the glass and not in or between the two layers, u can feel the roughness on it compaired to the outside (meaning extereor) part of the glass which is silky smooth.

here are pictures, ill try to take more tommarow of it in the sun instead of relying on the shitty lights in my garage(if the link doesnt work let me know and ill post tags so theyll show in the thread)

http://community.webshots.com/album/514037234ffHkNY

the first pic is kinda blurry cuz i was moving, but still shows what im dealing with. some are still blurry cuz i couldnt get my cam to focus on the glass so it focused on something in front of or behind the glass. also, the smeared part of the glass is wax (read below for the reason) and the spot in the center of the glass is just where i havent cleaned it yet.

the wax - it seems to work ever so slightly, when viewed at an angle you can see where its a LITTLE more clear, but when you look at the glass straight on it looks the same as the parts that didnt get waxed.

thanks alot for all the help guys! i really appreciate it

nope, its been there sinse i got the car. up untill today i figured it would come off with some TLC so i put it off (mistake #1). now i realize what a bitch this really is. its not THAT noticeable unless the lighting is just right, in which case it just looks dirty and not horribly tarnished; an example is in the pictures themselves, in http://community.webshots.com/photo/...46217929tNfxVa that picture it looks like just that spot is hazey but really its almost the entire hatch. sometimes it looks good and sometimes it looks bad. its all in the lighting

You can try goof off or goo gone to clean it off, or even liquid carb cleaner, dont do a big section just a bit at a time.

the outside of the glass is sparkling clean, w/e it is is on the other side of the glass...also the only accident my car was in was a very light fender bender on the front drivers side back in like 99 so there was no painting on the ass end of the car sinse 1994 when it was built.

well i JUST took the wax off (at 1pm......it was on sinse like 3am) and it appears that it helped some. when i whiped it clean with a pad there was noticeable grime on the pad mixed with the wax. im still going to try distilled water and all that, ill get some vinegar and newspaper today and try that (mix vinegar and amonia). if i end up relying on the wax im definatly going to apply wax, leave it on for like 10 hours and repeat about 4 or 5 times lol so im still open to suggestions

once again thank everyone for the input, especially psls10 and greg (s10n20s, gave me the wax idea)

btw im using meguires carnuba wax (all i had on hand atm)------>WAX

Re: haze on my windows that WONT COME OFF

try 0000 brillow(sp), we use this in the detail department to get light defects out of new car windows(ie: overspray) it should not hurt the defroster.

it WILL harm your defroster....dont listen to him lol.......it will remove the top layer.....only do this if LAST RESORT
you can buy distilled water at ANY grocery store..........
use 2 inch amonia, 2 inch glass cleaner and fill 32 ounce bottle the rest of the way up with distilled water....this should get rid of it all

lol, i just tried it on an area that doesnt have defroster, and it didnt work. w/e this shit is its stubborn as hell. im asking on the Fbody boards if they had some sort of a heat insulation tint or whatever, im starting to believe the flaw is somehow related to that.

ill try the distilled water thing as well as vinegar. if that doesnt work, ill take a baseball bat to it

Try some CLR or similar products. And try the vinegar if you haven't yet. Those things will take a hazy fish tank back to crystal clear.

I have always used some sort of rubbing compound to clear up windows, headlamps etc. Try using a rubbing compound or maybe even shoe polish.
