Glass scratches

My 89 work truck has a noticeable "broken wiper blade" arc scratch on the wind sheild. Anyone know if you can use a glass "rubbing compound" to lessen the impact of something like that?

Sounds like we have matching windshields . I've tried everything but nothing has worked. That's what we have auto insurance for!! My deductable is only $50 so a new windshield is in the very near future .

Yup, I have the same problem too! (I'm waiting for a nice rock to nail my window lol)

Re: Glass scratches

I checked around at NAPA and a couple glass shops - and they said not to waste time trying to buff it out. There are pads made to do it (check on web), but you end up with a dull spot after its all done. So, think I'll wait through the sand and grit of winter, and replace it next spring.

Re: Glass scratches

Damn, sounds like a common problem. My blades scrated the hell out of my windshield too. It's not too bad really, but I hope a nice big stone pops up and nails it!

Re: Glass scratches

ive used the glass polishing kits from Eastwood with great results. Its just takes a lot of time, so you have to decided how much your time is worth vs. just buying new glass.

Re: Glass scratches

Just get a spark plug and throw it casually against the window, then have insurance replace it.
